MYTH: Single-payer health care is fair and equal.

Brian Turner, a 74-year old man from Oak Green Mount, Rastrick, UK certainly disagrees. Suffering from wet age-related macular degeneration in his left eye, Brian was DENIED medical treatment by the United Kingdom's NHS. If he was wealthy though, it'd be a whole different story ...

Shona Holmes, a brain tumor survivor, was told by her Canadian doctor that it would take months before she could see a neurologist or endocrinologist. She decided to cross the border and go to the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona, where she received the treatment she needed to save her vision and life.

Despite the promises ...

Writing to you today (as always) from my humble home in the beautiful state of Michigan, and ... I'm here to tell you ... a President Obama will in fact, bring the Michigan economy to the rest of our great country.

Michigan's economy has been on a downward trend, and it keeps getting worse.  To get an idea of how long Michigan's economy has been sinking, read what the National Review Online's Greg Kaza had to say back on October 18, 2006 (emphasis added):
How bad is Michigan's labor market? Michigan is the only state to record a contraction in nonfarm payroll employment for five consecutive years. The state's labor market is headed for its sixth straight annual ...

Politics, politics, politics ... yeah, it's serious stuff ... but you gotta take a break and just laugh at it all now and again.

Welcome to the new "Funnies" section of The Classic Liberal Blog, where we'll have fun at the expense of Democrats, Republicans, Libertarians, and ... well ... just about anyone!

If you're easily "offended," then you're not mature enough to be reading this blog (and you certainly won't enjoy our first entry).

Election Campaign Bonus!

Some things never change ...

The 2008 presidential election has been frustrating for conservatives indeed.  John McCain refuses to embrace the conservative philosophy that government causes more problems than it can solve, nor does he grasp that "bi-partisanship" doesn't win elections - PARTISANSHIP does!

You either believe in your convictions, or you don't.  "Bi-partisanship." is a myth.

Barack Obama doesn't have a problem being partisan.  He openly discusses his "Robin Hood" economic theories, and refuses to denounce the anti-American, totalitarian, and communist agitators that encompass his inner circle.  Sure, he's been effective in tactfully distancing himself from these people, but he openly endorses their beliefs and policies when he's discussing his own.  Two in the same.

McCain's one saving grace has been Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska.  If he can't figure out why he's not leading in the polls, it's because he's not enough like her, and has tried too hard to make her more like him.  Palin is a regular person, not part of the Washington Elite.  Palin wasn't afraid to attack her own political party.  Palin plays by her own rules, not by the rules of Washington.  Actual conservatives, contrary to the party elite, actually like that!  Real conservatives however, don't like politicians.  That's why McCain's "suspend the campaign" stunt to run to Washington and act as the "Great Legislator," failed miserably.

Barack Obama, the 2-year Senator with significantly less experience than Sarah Palin, is finally feeling a little heat regarding his dangerous associations with ACORN's voter fraud, communist upbringing by "mentor" Frank Marshall Davis, training in Saul Alinsky's agitation politics, ties to brutal dictator Odinga, financial and political entanglements with convicted felon and political fixer Tony Rezko, communist blogger Mike Klonsky, and unrepentant anti-American terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn ... Unfortunately, the "heat" has been rather mild ... room temperature at best.

The mainstream media (MSM) has been as hesitant to investigate Obama's communist ties as a kid who just got called down to the principle's office.  The MSM is so in the tank for Obama, it's not even worth carrying on about.  They've simply lost their minds.  But there's one question that remains in this election.  A question with an answer that really won't surprise anyone, but an answer that all lovers of American and believers in liberty should be concerned about.  Very concerned.

Senator John McCain was tortured by communists in defense of America.  Senator Barack Obama not only pals around with communists, but offers proposals based in Marxist economic tradition.  In spite of this ... Barack Obama's support continues to rise.
Why? Why haven't Obama's communist connections resonated with the American people here, in the land of the free, home of the brave?

Wall Street Bailout

Part One: What's the Emergency?

Do you remember the old Wendy's commercials, "Where's the beef?"

Well, I have a similar question:
"Where's the proof" ... that the world would collapse without the "emergency" bailout?

Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson, President George W. Bush, and Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke suddenly, out of nowhere, warned us all of certain Financial Armageddon if Congress didn't pass a $700 billion government bailout package immediately.  Members of the House of Representatives were even prodded with threats of Marshall Law, if the bill wasn't passed right away.  They need $700 billion right away!

Why?  Why $700 billion?  How was this number calculated?

Pension and Family Security Plan

theCL  2008-10-15  Economic, Election Campaign, Op-Ed  Comments Off

Yesterday, John McCain announced his "Pension and Family Security Plan."

Yes, the announcement is congested with populist hyperbole, but it does contain a few nuggets of economic wisdom.

Reduce the capital-gains tax rate to 7 1/2 percent for years 2009 and 2010.
Increase the amount of capital losses that can be "written-off" from $3,000 to $15,000 for years 2008 and 2009.
Withdrawals from tax-deferred retirement accounts taxed at the lowest rate (10 percent) for the first $50,000 withdrawn.
Suspend the rules forcing seniors to sell retirement-account holdings when they reach age 70 1/2.
Keep the Bush tax-rate cuts in place.

While I'd prefer a simplified tax-code and a flat income tax rate, these are still very good, ...

Rep. Marcy Kaptur and the Wall Street Bailout

theCL  2008-10-14  Conspiracy, Economic, Op-Ed  Comments Off

There is nothing "conservative" about the bailout. There is nothing "conservative" about the crony-capitalism it protects either.  Every Republican who voted in favor of the [Fleecing of American Taxpayers Act] should hang their head in shame. Free markets didn't fail, the Federal Reserve, federal government, and their arbitrary regulations failed!

You know ... Democrats get some things right every now and again.  Representative Marcy Kaptur (D) of Ohio's 9th District put on a show detailing the rules of the latest reality game, "Let's Play Wall Street Bailout!"

You go girl!

Note: While I don't support her recommendations, I certainly think she did a great job describing this sudden, out of nowhere bailout scheme!

It is not your right to receive from me, nor my responsibility to pay, for your health care. It's not up to me to buy for you any of the other things you might require as well, like drugs, sorry, I mean "Meds", food, cable TV or your piece of shit foreign car with the Obama bumper sticker on the back. Welcome to the freedom of America!

Sorry, but you are not a victim of me, therefore I owe you nothing more than to respect your rights as a fellow human being. If I choose to be charitable, that's my business, and my decision. It's certainly not up to someone else. If it is, then it's not charity. Instead, it's the power of the gun - socialism.

Sounds really cold doesn't it? I must be a real prick ... What about the children?
