childrens-rightsThis was originally posted back in August 2008, but due to acquiring some, uh, wrong incoming links, I took it down for a re-write.  Since the story is back in the news, here it is, re-posted (and updated).

Savana Redding, a 13-year old eighth-grade honor student at the time (2003), was forced to strip for Arizona school officials who were determined to find some ibuprofen.

Vice Principal Kerry Wilson had found one non-prescription naproxen pill and a few 400-milligram ibuprofen pills (equivalent to 2 over-the-counter pills each) in the pocket of another student who claimed Savana Redding was her source.  Based on this "tip," Wilson promptly pulled Savana out of class.

An honor's student with no prior history of trouble or drug-use, Savana agreed to a search of her backpack.  Nothing was found.  Still not satisfied, VP Kerry Wilson then ordered a female secretary, with the help of the school nurse, to strip-search Savana - without attempting contacting her mother!

Thanks to Khalim Massoud, president of Muslims against Sharia--Islamic Reform Movement, for his press release in support of Tom Burnett Sr.'s efforts to stop the Park Service from planting a giant Mecca-oriented
crescent atop his son's grave.

Islamic Reform Movement is clear eyed on the problem:

We all know who the enemy is. It's Islamic radicals who are guided by the ideology of Islamic supremacy. Just as Nazis were guided by the ideology of Aryan supremacy. The only difference is that Gihadis consider it their religious duty to impose Islam all over the world and many of them yearn to die (and kill) for

Some thoughts and links in the Tea Party aftermath ...

Let's start with the following video in which Robert Stacy McCain delivers a tremendous Tea Party speech in Alabama!

A great point "The Other McCain" brought up here, is what he said about Ron Paul's Campaign for Liberty:

The Ron Paul movement was not about Ron Paul.  It was about a movement.  It was about enthusiasm at the grassroots.  [It was] people getting excited about doing something to get things right in this country.

Success Starts with an Audit!

The growing Tea Party movement is about "we the people," not the politicians and parties.  This is about taking back control of our government.

We're more than capable of making our own good decisions, and we're not about to let Congress run us and our ancestors into a life of debt!

Don't like Ron Paul?  Doesn't matter.  Don't like Republicans?  Doesn't matter.  Voted for Obama?  Doesn't matter.

This bill is good for you no matter what your politics are.  This is a big step in the right direction!

Maybe a cartoon will help.

It's long past time for the Fed's books to be opened.

Audit the Fed!

H.R. 1207 has 58 co-sponsors and real potential to pass!

What is H.R. 1207?

The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2009 was introduced by Rep. Ron Paul, to allow for an audit of the Federal Reserve.  Introducing the bill, he said:

Throughout its nearly 100-year history, the Federal Reserve has presided over the near-complete destruction of the United States dollar. Since 1913 the dollar has lost over 95% of its purchasing power, aided and abetted by the Federal Reserve's loose monetary policy. How long will we as a Congress stand idly by while hard-working Americans see their savings eaten away by inflation?

A Moderate History of the G.O.P. - Part One
A Moderate History of the G.O.P. - Part Two

OK ... we ended Part 2 with the election of General Dwight D. Eisenhower.  We also noted that Eisenhower was a political rookie and a bit naive concerning the "behind-the-scenes" political gaming.  So in spite of his principled and well-meaning conservative campaign platform, the eight years of Eisenhower's presidency resulted in the continuance of the "America Last" foreign policy, and a complete failure to enact anything from his 1952 winning platform.  Taft ...
