summer glau terminator Terminator Rule 5 SalvationProfessor Douglas gets things rolling with Full Metal Saturday: Mary-Louise Parker!

Yes (all you geeks out there), I know she's not in the movie, but I thought the post title was good, so I used it.  This week's Rule 5 (How to Get a Million Hits) brings you Summer Glau!

Summer Lyn Glau (34-23-33) is best known for her role in (the best series ever to get canceled) Serenity, and as Cameron Phillips, the Terminator programmed to protect John Conner in Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles. She is definitely the hottest robot ever!

Time Magazine's Justin Fox wrote a rather condescending piece about Euro Pacific Capital's Peter Schiff, basically calling him a has-been, and saying his TV appearances are becoming fewer and farther in between because "he hasn't changed his tune."

Ilana Mercer however, gives us the real reason Schiff isn't getting the coverage:

I mean, on the one hand, Fox concedes that Schiff's investments have proven prudent. But on the other hand, he insists that Schiff got to bask only briefly "in the glory of his spectacular call," because he has fallen out of grace with the menagerie of morons on mainstream media.

"If we do not have a consensus of what 'rights' are, there is little chance our free society will survive." - Ron Paul, 1988.

Today, it seems like nobody understands what rights actually are.  Whether on the left, the right, it doesn't matter ... I find a general assumption rights are decided upon and obtained through government.  This is troubling.

What inspired me to write about rights today was a post arguing against the legalization of drugs (via The Other McCain).  It's not Freeberg's position on drugs I wish to address here, just the following paragraph from his post concerning rights.

Terrace Five Remains:

As I've said before, I see government-sanctioned, or government-sponsored, or government-permitted drug use

Annys Shin of the Washington Post writes:

... that while the economy is still shrinking, the pace of the decline is slowing. That, in turn, has stoked fears that the Fed's efforts to steer the economy away from a 1930s-era depression would push the country toward '70s-style inflation.  Those fears center on the Fed's unprecedented efforts to revive the economy by creating more than $1 trillion in new money.

Good enough ... but then she adds:

Determining the best time to withdraw that money is a classic quandary for central bankers.

To which Jeffrey Tucker on the Mises Economics Blog Replies:

A class quandary? When

"Given the recent disappearance of billions of dollars into Big Finance, this is an appropriate measure." - JHoward, Protein Wisdom

Did you know the Federal Reserve cannot account for over $9 trillion in off-balance sheet transactions?  Let me say that one more time.
$9 trillion!

Rep. Ron Paul's bill HR 1207 to audit the Federal Reserve now has 179 co-sponsors!  This is a genuinely non-partisan bill.  Every American should jump on this with their full support behind it!  You can take action right now, by simply signing this petition.

Memorial Day

What can aid more to assure this result than cherishing tenderly the memory of our heroic dead, who made their breasts a barricade between our country and its foes? Their soldier lives were the reveille of freedom to a race in chains, and their deaths the tattoo of rebellious tyranny in arms. We should guard their graves with sacred vigilance. All that the consecrated wealth and taste of the nation can add to their adornment and security is but a fitting tribute to the memory of her slain defenders. Let no wanton foot tread rudely on such hallowed grounds. Let pleasant paths invite the coming and going of reverent visitors and fond mourners. Let no vandalism ...

The Establishment is not on our side folks.  This fact has become unarguable.

Almost immediately after his inauguration, President Obama and his goons got out their Alinsky playbook and read "choose a villain and make him the scapegoat for everything you oppose." They chose radio broadcaster Rush Limbaugh.  No longer the people's watchdog and thrilled to be given a target, the mainstream media jumped all over it!

Last Wednesday, Rush resigned as the Titular Head of the Republican Party, saying:

In the famous words of Roberto Duran, "no mas, no mas," no more, no more.
