Farrah Fawcett, Thanks for the Memory

theCL  2009-06-26  Culture, Hotties  Comments Off

farrah-fawcettThere isn't much to say about the passing of Farrah Fawcett that hasn't been already said. This sad news however, reminded me of a little story from my own life, in which Farrah played a part.

When I was in the 2nd grade, there was a group of us boys who liked Farrah Fawcett.  (Yes, 2nd grade, I've never really been one of those "normal" people).  Anyways ... I had this picture of Farrah.  From the best my memory serves me, it was the picture you see to your left, but in black and white.  I had cut it out of the ...

The Harry Schultz Letter (HSL), which accurately predicted 2008's "financial tsunami," is now reporting a very frightening rumor:

Some U.S. embassies worldwide are being advised to purchase massive amounts of local currencies; enough to last them a year. Some embassies are being sent enormous amounts of U.S. cash to purchase currencies from those governments, quietly. But not pound sterling. Inside the State Dept., there is a sense of sadness and foreboding that 'something' is about to happen ... within 180 days, but could be 120-150 days.

Sound crazy?  Maybe.  But it's not nearly as crazy as believing TARP, and the rest of the "stimulus," would do ...

michele-bachmannI'm really starting to like Minnesota Representative Michele Bachmann.  Not only is she a real person, she's got the heart of a lion too!

Bachmann voted against all of the "stimulus" plans, which includes the Bush/McCain TARP debacle, and ripped Bernanke and Geithner over their abuse of power.  She considers being in Washington as similar to being "behind enemy lines."  As a strong advocate for a stable currency, she stands in bold opposition to the adoption an international currency (at which Geithner has hinted).  In regards to the Democrats economy-destroying Cap and Trade tax, ...

The 2nd Amendment: Let Our Rulers Be Warned!

theCL  2009-06-24  Guns, Prohibition, Rights  Comments Off

About 245 years ago, a "dead-white-guy" named Thomas Jefferson quoted Criminologist Cesare Beccaria, saying:

Laws that forbid the carrying of arm s... disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed one.

This same "dead-white-guy," also known as the author of The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, made it clear too, exactly what the 2nd Amendment was about, and why it was important:

What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to

Arbitrary Goals are a “Good Thing”

Thomas Sowell  2009-06-24  Education, Syndicated  Comments Off

theCL: More government/college B.S. ...  Thanks to all the grants and student loans, plus the fact they teach antiquated subjects with too much political propaganda, college is no longer a necessity for many Americans.  In fact, it can turn out to be a big waste of time and money!
------------------------------

Even if the "stimulus" package doesn't seem to be doing much to stimulate the economy, it is certainly stimulating many potential recipients of government money to start lining up at the trough. All you need is something that sounds like a "good thing" and the ability to sell the idea.

A perennial "good thing" is education. So it is not surprising that leaders of the ...

In yet more news of government insanity ... Under the guise of "protecting" us gullible American consumers from the reviews, recommendations, and advice of "amateurs," the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is planning to commandeer the blogosphere!

Of course we all know better ... considering the federal government's constant maneuvering to control political speech via Fairness Doctrine, localism, and whatever else they dream up ... this move represents the vampire's first foot in the door, and we all know what happens next, don't we? Not only can the vampire come and go as he pleases, but he's going to suck your blood dry too.

Competition in the arena of thought is the mortal enemy of our State ...

Say ‘No’ to State Established CO2-Phobic Religion

Alec Rawls  2009-06-23  Conspiracy, Socialism  Comments Off

EPA comment period closes Tuesday. Tell ‘em, no state-establishment of CO2-phobic religion!

Only a couple more days to let the EPA know what you think of its proposed war against CO2. Just click on the little yellow “add comments” balloon. The following is a comment (ending at "sincerely") that you can copy and paste. (If you choose to roll your own, feel free to leave it here too.)

Dear EPA:

There is overwhelming statistical evidence that the primary driver of natural temperature change is solar-magnetic activity, yet the solar flux is completely omitted as an influence on climate in all four IPCC assessments and in the Obama administration's new "Climate Change Impacts in ...

Geithner’s Cash for Gold Plan

theCL  2009-06-23  Funnies  Comments Off

Hey ... it's as economically sound as anything else coming out of Washington these days. Sad, but true.

Treasury officials say the gold has just been rattling around in the bottom of some vaults at the US Bullion Depository anyway.
