I think this country needs to get tougher on illegal immigrants. Whether it's keeping out the Mexicans from the south or the Chinese from crossing at the Canadian border, we need to keep the illegal immigrants out.

I have no problem with people coming to this country, but they need to do it LEGALLY. Illegal immigration opens up a whole batch of problems, including potential terrorists getting into this country.

That being stated, we need immigration laws that make sense. For example, when an illegal immigrant is arrested in a city like San Francisco that illegal immigrant needs to be sent back to his or her own country. Unfortunately, Liberal cities don't feel the need to obey the law. They feel people cannot be "illegal" even though by definition, being here illegally means you are illegal.

I am all for keeping illegals out and getting rid of them when they sneak in. However, I am not in favor of Arizona's new law that allows police to stop suspected illegals for no other reason than looking like they are not citizens.

This kind of thing scares me. The government is out of control and the police do not need more power to intrude into our lives.

This law sounds like a good idea because most people think the only ones being hassled will be Mexicans and that is true. I doubt many whites, blacks and Asians will be hassled. It will be 99.999999% Mexicans. True, 99.99999% of all illegal immigrants in Arizona are from Mexico but I hate anything that reduces the freedom of Americans and this law will allow the police to hassle the LEGAL residents of Arizona who are Mexican.

I would prefer we put troops on the border to stop the influx of illegals. I hate anything that has the potential to get citizens used to the police stopping us without real cause.

I always say, "Give the government an inch, and it will take over your life."

I wonder what the next step will be. Who can the police stop next based on appearance? Kids with baggy pants because they could be gang members? Old people because they could be illegally purchasing drugs from Canada? How about people wearing crosses because they could be planning to bomb an abortion clinic?

About a year ago, a government memo was released saying people who fly the American flag, veterans, Christians, Second Amendment enthusiast, and  pretty much anybody who likes the U.S.A. is a potential domestic terrorist, we got upset, and rightfully so.

This law is no different as to how it will impact our Mexican citizens. They will now be profiled, hassled, and made to feel like second-class citizens.

Once we get used to the idea it is OK for the police to randomly stop American citizens for possibly being illegal, we won't flinch when we move allow the government to intrude into our lives even more and allow the police to stop us for any reason.

Conservatives have accused President Obama of wanting to change America into a Socialist society. Now, we have a law that is a slap in the face of freedom and the Conservatives are applauding it.

I repeat. I am in favor of controlling the rash of illegal immigrants coming into our country, but I do not favor any law that allows American citizens to be hassled by the police based on their ethnicity and the Arizona law may not purport to do that, but that what it will become.
