An Open Letter to Michael Steele
As the policies and actions of the Obama Administration have become more readily apparent, the Republican Party may believe that they have “default” support among Conservative and Independents for the upcoming election cycle. I would urge you to examine this more closely. As you may have noticed, the approval ratings for Republicans are still quite low. There is a reason for this beyond the fact that the left and the media are against Republicans.
I believe that these low ratings are due to the Party’s abandoning of Conservative principals. After George Bush was elected, government continued to grow in both size and scope. Government interference in the free market continued, and programs continued to flourish and grow in influence. Far too many Republican Congressmen and Senators, who ran on platforms of small government and fiscal responsibility, spent like drunken sailors when they arrived in Washington. The people, and particularly the Party base, watched these developments with a growing disgust ...
Leaving a comment there, I said that "there are 4 fundamental changes that must take place in America if we are ever to be truly free again." Well, I mistakenly left one out. Here's the correct list ...
5 Fool-Proof Paths Back to Freedom in America
It's no secret that Washington has become a virtual crime syndicate. Nor is it a secret that "we the people" (particularly conservatives and libertarians) don't get the representation in Washington deserved. For example, Democrat, Republican and Libertarian constituents were overwhelmingly against TARP, but our Washington Overlords went ahead and passed the economically destructive bill anyways.
What is needed is far more than just a fresh set of politicians in Washington. What is needed is a fundamental change in the political incentive system. They must no longer be rewarded for doing the wrong (and often criminal) things.
The following is a list of 5 important changes that "we the people" need to make if the United States of America is to ever have a government "of the people, by the people" again.
- The Federal Reserve Must Be Audited then Permanently Shut-Down.
The Federal Reserve Bank is a central-planning mechanism that holds an absolute monopoly over our money supply. The Federal Reserve creates the inflation that eats away our dollars purchasing power. When you hear terms like "elastic," "green shoots," and/or "expansion of the money supply" being used ... The truth is that they're talking about the explicit counterfeiting of our dollars. And I think we all know why counterfeiting is both a crime, and destructive to the economy. - Corporations and Unions Must Be Banned from Participating in the Political Process.
There is no legitimate reason for either corporations or labor unions to participate in politics. To start with, corporations and unions can't even vote! The only way to achieve a government “by the people, for the people,” is to distribute political power as widely as possible. And the most effective means of accomplishing this, is to limit financial contributions for political purposes to individuals only. - Corporate Welfare Must Be Abolished.
Corporate welfare is any government spending program that provides unique benefits or advantages to specific companies or industries, to the detriment of competing companies, including direct and/or indirect subsidies. This preferential treatment of favored corporations not only distorts price and labor markets, but also encourages backdoor deals between the government and said preferred companies. A government with something to sell, will always sell it! And a government that can be bought, will always get bought. - Foreign Welfare Must Be Abolished.
The government taxes us to pay tribute to and/or bribe foreign ruling classes. The unfortunate thing is, nobody even knows how much all of this “aid” adds up to, because the money is dispersed via “gifts,” bad loans (with no expectation for repayment), subsidies, military protection, and through many other secret pathways. In other words, foreign aid works just like ACORN! Most foreign “aid” gets arranged through backdoor deals with ruling tyrants and via the Federal Reserve acting in concert with foreign central banks. Conservatively estimated, the American taxpayer has forked over $1 trillion dollars to tyrants of the worst kind since WWII. - We Must Expand the Number of Representatives in the House as the Founders Intended.
The purpose of the House of Representatives is not only representation, but to protect the citizens from the government! In a free society, where a legitimate government “[derives its] just powers from the consent of the governed,” it is of vital importance that the citizens receive just representation in Washington. A greater number of bodies in the House decreases the likelihood of political collusion, groupthink, and also returns campaigning to the local level, thus eliminating the need for expensive mass-media advertising. And with each candidate needing to win fewer votes, the House becomes “the people's House” again.
It goes without saying that this is far from an overnight success plan. It will indeed take a lot of work and dedication to accomplish these important tasks, but the results would certainly be worth it!
Why? Because these 5 paths, or "issues," would virtually eliminate the government/politician/business/union/foreign financial collusion, that has just about rendered our individual votes meaningless.
