Editor's note: Please don't be confused about the optimistic nature of this blog post. I am Michigan J. Blogger, not my good friend, theCL. A big difference between us is I am little more positive and I am not against ALL government spending.
All kidding aside, I enjoy what theCL writes about because we need to know to the ramifications of what our government is doing, but sometimes between theCL and Glenn Beck I get a little worried about the future. I guess a little concern is a good thing, but today I am all about hope - not like President Obama's hope - but hope we can get behind.
Here are a few things to give us hope about the future of this great nation:
We're America, dammit. I am not sure when it happened, but the United States went from being the best nation on the planet to being the best nation on a planet where most other nations hate us, despite the fact we do more for the world than anyone else. The anti-American attitude has been fostered by many people that are actually citizens of this country. And that is sad.
As our nation ventured down the Politically Correct path, hating America became cool in some circles. We have condo associations outlawing American flags being hung outside of homes; people calling presidents and our troops "baby killers"; others saying we are the cause for the world's troubles; and there are many, many examples of our people hating this nation.
What we need to remember is despite what some may think of us, The United States is a country that was built on great people doing great things. We just need to get back to that and I believe we will. There are too many opportunities -despite our government's repeated attempts to limit those opportunities - in this country to keep the people down. The desire to prosper is too strong to be extinguished.
American people have the spirit to make a comeback.
Natural resources. Despite the unwillingness of Liberals to actually use what God has provided for us, someday we will get leadership with the stones to dig a few holes and use the oil, gas, and metals we have in abundance.
Brains, intelligence, and ingenuity. Our education system has many problems. The first being we do too much indoctrination of Liberal ideas instead of actual teaching, but we have the smartest people in the world and we do educate many of our young people and they do great things.
The United States is the home of the greatest inventions, ideas, and innovations the world has seen over the past 200-plus years and there is no reason to see it end now.
Patriotism. Yeah, I said it. While Liberals will have you believe patriotism died somewhere shortly after the Revolutionary War and became alive again when President Obama was sworn in, it has not.
I remember when I was a little kid in 1976 and everyone was celebrating the Bicentennial. We all had flags, everything came in red, white, and blue and the majority of Americans loved this country.
Since then, we became a nation of doubters. Our history books have changed from where the USA was the hero to the USA being - maybe not the villain - but not so good. I want our history books to accurately reflect the truth - the good and bad - but the Liberal guilt we have been doused with because we dared to be great has soaked our history classes with all the bad we have done as a nation.
We haven't been perfect, but we are the product of all we have done, and we have done way much more good than bad.
God. Oh, there I go again mentioning something that the Politically correct Police would have me admonished for. When the USA made God a priority, the nation flourished. As we pushed Him from our schools and public square and replaced God's authority with our own sense of morality, the country has grown weaker, more perverse, and less caring about others.
But I believe if we change our attitude and return to praying for our nation, things will get better.
That's it. A simple list, but these things can make our great nation even greater.
