It's Saturday, time for the infamous R.S McCain's Rule 5 from "How to Get a Million Hits on Your Blog in Less Than a Year!"
This week's Rule 5 Edition features the lovely Anna Faris and the timelss wisdom of Albert Jay Nock.
Anna Kay Faris (34-23-34) was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 29, 1976. She is the daughter of Karen, an elementary school teacher, and Jack Faris, a sociologist. Anna Faris is most well-known for her role as the dim-witted character Cindy Campbell in the horror film paroday Scary Movie.
Albert Jay Nock (Oct. 13, 1873 - Aug. 19, 1945) was an influential author, social critic, educational and political theorist in the early and middle 20th century. His writings provide a picture of the way a true political dissident from the first progressive period thinks about the world, and a comprehensive argument for the very meaning of freedom and civility. Albert Jay Nock was key in helping to shape the Right's intellectual response to FDR's welfare-warfare State.

Thoughts from Nock:
“Every person of any character, I think, wants above all to keep the integrity of his personality intact, and under the idea of organization that prevails in this country, that seems impossible unless one stays out pretty resolutely.”
“I merely observe that I have never been able to see 'society' otherwise than as a concourse of very various individuals about which, as a whole, not many general statements can be safely made. The individual seems to be the fundamental thing; all the character society has is what the prevailing character of the individuals in its environment gives it.”

"Here is the Golden Rule of sound citizenship, the first and greatest lesson in the study of politics: you get the same order of criminality from any State to which you give power to exercise it; and whatever power you give the State to do things for you carries with it the equivalent power to do things to you. A citizenry which has learned that one short lesson has but little more left to learn."
"[T]he State's criminality is nothing new and nothing to be wondered at. It began when the first predatory group of men clustered together and formed the State, and it will continue as long as the State exists in the world, because the State is fundamentally an anti-social institution, fundamentally criminal. The idea that the State originated to serve any kind of social purpose is completely unhistorical. It originated in conquest and confiscation -- that is to say, in crime. It originated for the purpose of maintaining the division of society into an owning-and-exploiting class and a propertyless dependent class -- that is, for a criminal purpose.
No State known to history originated in any other manner, or for any other purpose. Like all predatory or parasitic institutions, its first instinct is that of self-preservation. All its enterprises are directed first towards preserving its own life, and, second, towards increasing its own power and enlarging the scope of its own activity. For the sake of this it will, and regularly does, commit any crime which circumstances make expedient."

"The State always moves slowly and grudgingly towards any purpose that accrues to society's advantage, but moves rapidly and with alacrity towards one that accrues to its own advantage; nor does it ever move towards social purposes on its own initiative, but only under heavy pressure, while its motion towards anti-social purposes is self-sprung."
“What was the best that the State could find to do with an actual Socrates and an actual Jesus when it had them? Merely to poison the one and crucify the other, for no reason but that they were too intolerably embarrassing to be allowed to live any longer.”

"There never will be even a decent political sense developed in this country until we breed a race of people who are as ready to go to the mat for justice in behalf of what they do not believe in as in behalf of what they do believe in."

Tricking folks into reading about Nock? Excellent! Does this method really pull in the hits? Might have to give it a shot!
