    You have an excellent point about understanding economics before arguing politics.

      Well, it depends on who you are and what you're looking for. Conservative politics? Conscience of a Conservative and A Choice Not an Echo. Read Schlafly's book and you'll never look at politics the same way again.

      If you want to understand the current economic crisis and get a good understanding of the business cycle, read Thomas Wood's Meltdown. If you want to know what to do for you and your family now, read Goyette's Meltdown.

      Mainspring is an excellent starter on economics. One of the best books I've ever read!

      So those are probably the best places to start, but they're all must read books. Mises Liberalism and Higg's Crisis and Leviathan are probably the most difficult to read. They're textbooks.
