It's amazing how much coverage there is of Osama bin Laden's death in spite of so little information to report.
Here's something interesting ... "Osama bin Laden's death opens up a spot on the FBI's list of Ten Most Wanted Fugitives." Notice what his rap sheet said:
Usama Bin Laden is wanted in connection with the August 7, 1998, bombings of the United States Embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and Nairobi, Kenya. These attacks killed over 200 people. In addition, Bin Laden is a suspect in other terrorist attacks throughout the world.
Do you see anything missing? Perhaps the 9/11 attacks?
Al-Qaeda has released confirmation that Osama bin Laden is dead.
Al-Qaeda has confirmed Osama bin Laden's death in an Internet statement, The Associated Press reports.
The terror network says today in a statement that bin Laden's blood "will not be wasted" and that it will continue attacking Americans and their allies.
There was no indication how the group will retaliate. Rather than making vehement cries of vengeance, the statement — entitled "You lived as a good man, you died as a martyr" — struck a tone of calmness and continuation. Though it included praise of bin Laden, much of the 11-paragraph statement was dedicated to underlining that al-Qaeda would live on, depicting him as just another in a line of "martyrs" from the group.
Retaliate? New attacks? And all this time I thought the "blowback" theory was "crazy." Our Dear Mayor even proclaimed that he's never "heard that before." Go figure. Maybe Giuliani is just clueless when it comes to world politics. Who knows? What's most likely however is that, he's just blatantly dishonest. Any who ...
As of right now (of course the story could change any second), al Qaeda is still declaring that Osama bin Laden is dead. Well, there's that, and also they still "hate us because we're just so nice."
Al Qaeda released a statement on jihadist forums Friday confirming the death of its leader, Osama bin Laden, according to SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors Islamist websites.
The development comes days after U.S. troops killed bin Laden in a raid on a compound in the Pakistani city of Abbottabad.
The statement, translated by SITE, lauded the late militant, threatened to take action against the United States, and urged Pakistanis to "rise up and revolt."
Bin Laden's death will serve as a "curse that chases the Americans and their agents, and goes after them inside and outside their countries," the message said.
"Soon -- with help from Allah -- their happiness will turn into sorrow, and their blood will be mixed with their tears," it said.
Shaking the hornet's nest is our government's version of "keeping you safe." Sweet, huh? After 60 years of messing around in the ME, you'd think we'd learn. But we don't.
Radical Muslims are already calling the site of Osama bin Laden's ocean burial the 'Martyr’s Sea', according to one of Britain’s leading Islamic scholars.
The US said the decision to drop bin Laden's body into the North Arabian Sea was taken to avoid creating a shrine for the slain Al Qaeda chief.
But Abdal Hakim Murad, Muslim Chaplain at Cambridge University, claimed yesterday that the move could backfire on the Americans.
'Given Muslim ideas of holiness diffusing over large areas it is possible that a pilgrimage will develop as radicals stand on beaches contemplating the virtues of their dead hero,' he added.
He said that one of America's greatest achievements of the last century was President Truman's insistence that Nazi war criminals should be tried at Nuremberg.
But after bin Laden's death in the US commando raid in Abbottabad, he suggested that full justice had been denied.
'Conspiracy theories in the Muslim world and beyond may now gain momentum. For too many, the dark lord is still among us or was innocent all along and that belief cannot bring the closure that America and the world rightly crave.'
It reminds me of a great Ayn Rand quote: "Mistakes of this size are never made innocently."
When it comes to politics, what the populace generally sees as mistakes, more often are cover for reasons politicians and bureaucrats don't wish to disclose. Don't kid yourself. It's not by accident, or by mere twist of fate, as to why your favorite "party" or politician constantly disappoints.
So, what does the "killing of Osama bin Laden" mean for America?
The wars will escalate. The police state will grow more intrusive. Our culture will continue to decline. Corporatism will tighten its grip. Freedom in America is all but dead.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower warned that we "must avoid becoming a community of dreadful fear and hate, and be, instead, a proud confederation of mutual trust and respect." Yet the progressive President Obama and neoconservative President George W. Bush have stoked the flames of "dreadful fear and hate" instead. Why?
It serves their statist agenda by creating a mass movement in support of the state.
Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don't want war neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country. -- Hermann Goering
