"Carrie Prejean Topless Nude Photo Scandal" Update:
Donald Trump officially announced that Carrie Prejean will keep her crown as Miss California. Good. Especially considering the infamous topless nude photo isn't even a topless nude photo! The picture isn't any more revealing than a bikini (which they parade across stage in as part of the pageant). This woman has endured too much over the past few weeks. Heck ... does anybody even know who won the pageant?
Carrie Prejean didn't enter the pageant to get into politics, the Miss USA pageant isn't a political arena. Yet, she finds herself in the middle of a huge political debate. The media has been on an absolute witch hunt, digging for anything they can use to destroy her character ... all because she expressed an opinion. Over a matter of days, she's been hit with a "word" scandal, a "fake boobs" scandal, and a "nude picture" scandal ... What's next?
If this is how "we"continue to act as a society, "we" won't need to worry about the government
stifling our free speech ... we'll already have done it to ourselves.
The linguist, philosopher, and political activist Noam Chomsky is not someone I always agree with, but I agree with him in terms of free speech. If you ask me, this one quote of his, really says it all:
If we don't believe in freedom of expression for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all.
Carrie Prejean simply expressed her belief that marriage should be between a man and a woman. She didn't attack anyone, she was respectful, and she was (and has been), very sweet about it all. She's not a politician, activist, nor spokesperson for a political group. This woman deserves respect, but instead, all she gets are cheap character attacks.
Bottom Line:
What we are witnessing in this "Carrie Prejean Topless Nude Photo Scandal," is the result of decades of teaching and promoting political agitation - demand, threaten, make personal attacks, shout down the opposition, "get in their face" ...
If "we" as a society, as adults (in the media, politics, or otherwise), are going to continue to act like a bunch of junior high school kids, shouting down each other on any occasion (regardless of how small) we come up with ... we are doomed and deserve it.
So what about the issue of gay marriage? It's simple. Get the government out! Period. You don't need government to get married.
You know ... I have to admit though, the "Carrie Prejean Topless Nude Photo Scandal," has good to me! hehehe ... the traffic has been huge. Thank you all for coming by and reading The Classical Liberal Blog. You're very much appreciated!
P.S. - You can find her (non) nude picture below. doh!
