Texas is the only state that was a nation prior to be annexed (Republic of Texas) by the United States.

I believe that our federal government has become oppressive in its size, its intrusion into the lives of our citizens, and its interference with the affairs of our state. That is why I am here today to express my unwavering support for efforts all across our country to reaffirm the states' rights affirmed by the Tenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. I believe that returning to the letter and spirit of the U.S. Constitution and its essential 10th Amendment will free our state from undue regulations, and ultimately strengthen our Union.

In my continuing effort to shine a light on the forgotten past of conservative politics, I'd like to share some of the thoughts and writings of Senator Robert Taft, the die-hard conservative and sworn enemy of New Deal Socialism.  Taft's strong conservative credentials led to him being the definition of the Republican Party itself, being known widely as, "Mr. Republican."

Being a genuine and principled conservative, Taft was attacked by both the Left and Establishment Right, obscuring his positions and ultimately scarring his legacy.  As a protector of the Constitution and champion of liberty, he often opposed foreign wars and was therefore labeled (falsely) as an "isolationist" and/or "obstructionist."  Further adding insult, the stalwart anti-communist Taft, was labeled a "super-appeaser" who would "execute the foreign policy of Stalin."

In October 1991, Suzanna Gratia-Hupp and her parents were having lunch in a cafeteria-style restaurant when George Hennard drove his truck right into the place and opened fire on everyone. Twenty-one people were killed, including her parents, and some 20 others were injured by the madman.

Suzanna owned a handgun, but left it in her car to comply with a Texas state law that made carrying a concealed handgun illegal. If she had disregarded the law, there would have been an opportunity to save many lives.  Once again, the law works against law-abiding citizens.

In a story too politically-incorrect for the MSM, Muzzamil Hassan, the "founder of a television network called Bridges TV, whose purpose it was to portray Muslims in a positive light," beheaded his wife in Buffalo, NY.  Marcia Pappas, President of NOW-New York State, immediately sent out a press release stating:
And why is this horrendous story not all over the news? Is a Muslim woman's life not worth a five-minute report? This was, apparently, a terroristic version of "honor killing," a murder rooted in cultural notions about women's subordination to men. Are we now so respectful of the Muslim's religion that we soft-peddle atrocities committed in its name?...What is this deafening silence?
Unfortunately, the rest of the feminist brigade doesn't share Pappas' outrage.  In fact, they're attempting to obfuscate the story by reducing it to just a typical case of domestic violence.

2. State lawmakers in Texas, well aware of their neighbors volatility, are busy working out a plan for just such an occasion.

Lawmakers expressed concern that the state's southern neighbor, embroiled in drug violence and facing uncertain economic conditions, could send thousands north in search of safety.

3. Mexico City, Mexico has been crowned the "Kidnapping Capital of the World!" Do you know which city comes in at #2?  Remember now, this is the entire world we're talking about ... And the answer is ... Phoenix, AZ! Scary, I know.

OK ... with all that as the background, just wait until you hear about the immigration legislation trying to get pushed through Congress!

For three years, the Flight 93 Memorial Project has been relentlessly dishonest, publicly denying damning facts like the Mecca orientation of the giant crescent while making excuses for these facts in private.Example:

Before the 2007 Memorial Project meeting, Project Partner and Flight 93 family member Patrick White was asked by the press about claims that the giant Crescent of Embrace points to Mecca. He said that all of the claims about what is in the design had been thoroughly investigated and been found to be untrue and "preposterous."

In private conversation at the meeting itself, White acknowledged the Mecca-orientation of the crescent and made excuses for it, arguing that the almost-exact Mecca orientation cannot be seen as a tribute to Islam because the in-exactness of it would be "disrespectful to Islam."
