Choose or lose. That's what everybody wants us to believe. It's what most people DO believe. Democrat or Republican. Choose or lose. I wish life were so simple.

Take the hubbub in Wisconsin for example. In truth, it's about 2 gangs fighting over stolen loot. Governor Walker is for freedom like Benito Mussolini, and the unions are for rights like Mao Zedong. Yet I'm supposed to pick sides?

In Washington, DC, the Federal Reserve is counterfeiting trillions of dollars with the backing of both Democrats and Republicans. In Congress, the Democrats want to spend the country into oblivion while the Republicans brag about barely scraping together $100 billion in spending cuts. And I'm supposed to choose sides?

Then there's the old "lesser evil" argument ... Yeah, that's like choosing between Jeffrey Dahmer and Ted Bundy as your personal bodyguard. Good luck with that one.

Don't support the welfare state? You hate people! Don't support foreign intervention? You hate America! Great. And I'm supposed to choose one of these 2 sides?

A progressive income tax, a fair income tax, a flat income tax ... How about NO income tax? Where's that choice?

Quite frankly, I don't care how you take the money. Taking someone's income, anyone's income, is theft any way you do it.

Choose or lose? Yeah, right. More like choose then lose.

There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root. -- Henry David Thoreau

The "choices" we're supposed to choose from at best, trim the branches every now and again. Neither "side" is willing to strike at the root. So the Leviathan Tree just keeps on growing. And growing. And growing.

For example, there is no doubt that the overpaid pubic employee unions in Wisconsin are a problem. Worse, they are a direct threat to the productive class of taxpayers. But here's the thing. If we wiped out the public employee unions today, the government would still continue collecting obscene amounts of money from productive citizens. In other words, even if you wipe out the unions, nothing changes.

Government IS the problem. Democratic government, Republican government, it doesn't matter. Government itself is the problem.

Take away their taxing ability and you'd be amazed how quickly they balance their budgets. Take away their power and you'd be amazed how much freedom you enjoy. But Heaven forbid, in a country founded in revolution against it's own government, being "anti-government" today, is considered the ultimate sin.

Left, right it doesn't matter. Americans worship government - The God That Failed.

The Democrat vs. Republican false choice will continue to take our country down it's current path to destruction. Until political debates are framed properly as government vs. free people, nothing will change. And that takes individual fortitude.

We're doomed.
