All you need to know about the health care debate, can be summed up as follows:

Congress has exempted themselves from any health care "reform."

Hey, if health care "reform" isn't good enough for Pelosi, Kennedy, and Obama ... then it isn't good enough for me either! If you wonder why they've exempted themselves, the answer is simple. They know it sucks!

Our political class, acts as if they're royalty.  Well, American's threw-off royalty, along time ago ... But here's the tough part: It's our fault. Yes, "we the people" are to blame!

America has a government "of the people, by the people, for the people." In other words, politicians are NOT "leaders." Instead, they are nothing more than the people's servants. Our forefather's fought what appeared to be an unwinnable war, so that all men could be free of political "leaders," not to beg for them. We must erase this "leader" mentality.

The American Revolution told the world that "all men are created equal," and people''s rights were not a political construct, but an inherent part of each one of us! No more, would one man live under the rule of another (king). Instead, all men would live by the rule of law. America put an end to the caste system and its aristocracy. Power belongs to all people, and government is merely our servant.

Today however, we're back to the caste system, with its ruling aristocracy and favored groups of people. So from now on, whenever you hear someone calling for a "leader," remind yourself of the following advice from Thomas Jefferson:

"In questions of power let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the constitution."

Representative John Flemming (R-LA) asks Americans the following question (I highly recommend adding your name to his growing list by saying "yes"):

[Do] you believe any member of Congress who votes for a government run health care plan should be forced to participate in the plan themselves?

Personally, I believe all members of Congress, as well as every single person in (and/or working for) both our federal and state governments, should be required to obey the laws they pass! This means that everyone, from Pelosi to Obama, even a government mail-room clerk, MUST participate fully in any bill passed into law (including health care).

Hmmm ... I wonder how much support the bill would lose, if they were required to obey the laws they pass?

Anyways, Fleming  introduced H.Res.615 to support the cause of requiring the government to abide by it's own health care bill ... but I have tell you, the language is very weak.

The bill reads in part (emphasis added):

H.Res.615 - Expressing the sense of the House of Representatives that Members who vote in favor of the establishment of a public, federal government run health insurance option are urged to forgo their right to participate in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) and agree to enroll under that public option.

Yes, not required, but simply urged ... hardly fighting words if you ask me ... So, while I did answer "yes" to his question above, there's hardly anything to get excited about regarding H.Res.615. Fleming, toughen up!

H/T Give Us Liberty!

What amazes me, is that this doesn’t sound the alarm for all Americans! Why would anyone support a bill the politicians themselves, refuse to participate in?

Like I said, that alone, tells me everything I need to know.

  • A well constructed post CL, nicely done. It’s amazing how they want to grab our necks and force feed this garbage to us, yet deny themselves the very same medicine. Disgusting.

Oh yeah, they think they’re kings and queens!

  • Congress has lost touch with the American people and the meaning of liberty. The last line of the oath members of Congress take when being sworn in is, “I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.” The majority of representatives in Congress are no longer faithfully discharging the constitutional duties of their office so it is our responsibility to discharge them from that office.
