If you think Democrats are the problem and not government, that party loyalty is a virtue, politicians are "leaders," and electing a Republican majority is your primary goal, you are part of the problem. You are not part of the solution.
If you do not believe this, then you are a sheep for the shearing -- and then, after several shearings, the roasting. You are on some politician's menu. -- Gary North
Anyone who's still sold on "team" politics hasn't been paying attention, because the two-party political system does not accurately represent opposing viewpoints of the role of the federal government."
What's at stake is representative government. What was supposed to be a 2-way dialogue between the government and citizen has turned into partisan "talking point" groupthink. This is the problem. So, if you really want change, forget partisanship, and and develop a new attitude instead.
Truth, reason and logic are the only things that matter. The Republican and Democratic Parties equally own 50% of the responsibility for every problem we face. Our banking system has nothing to do with the free market, it is a socialized monopoly run by a central planning authority (Federal Reserve). America does not have a free market, it has a corporatist economy. Republicans do not support free markets. Democrats do not hate corporations. It is our duty to call them out when they lie or cheat, obfuscating the truth makes this impossible.
NEVER provide cover for a politician. Do not let facts get muddied. Politics is not about love and admiration for "leaders," because government is, always and everywhere, based on theft and coercion. Our forebears properly understood this ancient truth. You must know as they did, government is not "us."
Politicians are to obey. You are to monitor their behavior and appropriately impose the carrot or stick. Do not accept their excuses. When they vote wrong on key issues, turn up the heat. Spare the rod and spoil the politician. You are not friends. You are the Master. The politician is your loyal Servant.
If any of this offends you, politics isn't for you. If you think one party is more "innocent" than another, you need to grow up. If you love and adore your "leaders," you'd be happier in China. If "beating the Democrats" is your goal, you're the politicians main course!
No More Royal Treatment!
Something appears to change many, if not most, of those who are elected once they cross the American Rubicon, the Potomac, at the Federal level (and enter the chambers of office at the state, county and city levels of government) to conduct the ‘business of the people.’ Over time, it is as if a ‘bunker mentality’ emerges, separating those elected to serve from those they have sworn to serve. The longer a person is in office and a beneficiary of the perks and exemptions of office, the more detached they are likely to become!
Let’s review some of the more reprehensible perks that those in the ‘American Royalty’ enjoy at the expense of the American citizens and taxpayers:
- Access to health insurance from over 300 private companies that is NOT single-payer, centralized or government-run health-care and exempting themselves from the regime’s stealth-care legislation being forced upon the citizens of the United States of America
- Ability to vote their own pay raises while having the ability to limit the COLAs for ‘entitlement’ programs and military personnel
- Franking privileges that provide those in elected office with an unfair advantage against any challengers
- The ability of retaining political contributions beyond one election, allowing these lifetime political barracudas to amass a war-chest for future candidacies for political office, or for personal use once they finally decide to resign from office, further separating them from the masses
- Holding special, investigative panels, attempting to hold corporate leaders to levels of citizenship, ethics and legality for which many in elective office fail to live up to
- Double-dipping of retirement programs while in office
- Exemptions from much of the legislation forced upon the rest of the citizens of the United States of America
- Becoming lobbyists and gaming the system for personal gain at the expense of the American taxpayer
The stakes are high folks. "We the People" either take charge, or our children and grandchildren will never know the meaning of freedom.

You are spot-on CL in this post. I have been saying for years that we as Americans agree on much more than what we disagree on. Political parties are using what we disagree on to pit us against each other. While we fight we each and stay distracted, they pass more legislation that expands the role of government. The price is our liberties. Excellent post my friend.
Yeah, that is their primary goal, to pit us against one another. Sure, there are serious fundamental disagreements, but a lot of those would get worked out on their own if we focused on those problems with which we agree.
The crux of this post however, is restoring that natural order of
American politics. The People lead, politicians follow. We the People are "leaders" and "heroes," not politicians. We pay their salaries, they work for us.
I would like to link this post, but you don't have an icon for wordpress. Perhaps I'm missing something.
I agree with your post about the partisan hackery we have going on in this country. I know people who vote the straight party ticket, no matter what. I call that lazy.

Man, I'm not sure what you mean, but if I can find one I'll get it hooked right up!
