How will we know if Rush got his wish?

American Veteran  2010-06-25  Op-Ed

The captain of the EIB network made some waves early on in the Obama love fest by proclaiming his desire for his policies to fail. The left made hay with the statement condemning Mr. Limbaugh for wishing that the anointed one should fail. Rush clarified his statement to illustrate that he didn't want the country to move toward socialism and if that meant failure for Obama, so be it. Nothing personal, only a matter of principle.

What he didn't do was qualify his statement. What exactly does this mean to have Obama fail so his policies don't make us socialist? We have no benchmarks to work with. Is he merely speaking of a voter rebuke in the 2012 election? If Obama gets run out of town, then this is the evidence of his failure? We are left only to speculate, but that is what we do best in the blogging world, isn't it?

Now I won't take the easy way out here and simply state that Obama failed with his first act as President as some would say. Or better yet, that he failed upon his birth wherever the heck that was. Certainly does stand to reason if he drew first breath under the Kenyan sky that he would have a soft spot for those illegal aliens invading our southern border, wouldn't it? But that's beside the point and we want to stay on topic.

For purposes of accuracy, Rush stated that "I hope Obama fails". You can read the transcript here if you wish to review the entire context of why he made the statement - http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_011609/content/01125113.guest.html

I would say we can throw out his re-election as a measuring stick. The reason he won't get re-elected will be because he accomplished much of his agenda. But this will be after the fact. It will be the awful realization by the electorate that they screwed up big time by electing this guy because the bill for his services will take generations to pay.

We need something sooner to hang our hat on. What would be that point when everyone realizes it's over for the Obama regime? Could it be failure to pass a certain piece of legislation? Amnesty perhaps? Climate change? What about an overseas conflict? If we take another 911 style shellacking would that be the day? Or maybe the BP debacle? Say if the wellhead becomes a permanent fountain ala Old Faithful?

We already know we're in debt up the wazoo for who knows how long. Heck , we were already there with Bush. Tacking on some extra trillions to our kids chore charts doesn't seem like much of a big deal anymore. That doesn't seem to impress the Obama faithful too much. What scenario could happen that would just be over the top and even the lefties would throw in the towel?

I think I've got it! I know what it is that is so bad that all hope will be lost and Rush can claim victory! Nope, it's not Monica Lewinsky's sister getting an internship also and bringing her own blue dress to the oval office. That would just make 'em love him even more.

The answer is blah! Yeah, what if we found out the truth and that he was a just a regular guy? That he's not even black? That he wasn't born in Kenya but just a regular old general hospital in a Chicago suburb? That he's a terrible golfer (oops, already found that out)? That the reason he won't release his college transcripts for Harvard is because he never went, he just graduated high school a 'c' student and went to a local community college for auto mechanics?

Good Lord Almighty, what if he's just one of us? Never was abandoned by his father? Went to frat parties and got stoned to the bejesus? What if the only reason he was in Bill Ayer's apartment was to bum a smoke? What if he really did love his country and secretly saluted the flag when no one was watching? What if really did still have a box of old Cubs and White Sox baseball cards and knew who the players were?

Yeah, that would do it. The bloom would be off the rose and the allure gone. All of the special interests groups would scurry back into their holes saddled with weight of having to wait for a new Messiah to arise. Rush could light up a big, fat stogie and smile with satisfaction knowing he was right all along.
