Thoughts on conservatism that hopefully, will drum-up some thought and discussion.
Missile Shield For Czech, Poland:
Is welfare a bad idea or a good idea? I ask, because in reality, isn't building a missile defense shield for European countries, just another form of welfare? You and I are taxed by force so money can be spent "protecting" foreign countries. How does this square with freedom and liberty? How does it square with opposing welfare at home?
I wish nothing but the best for the people in Europe, and all over the globe for that matter. But if they don't have enough money to build their own defense, well, maybe they should give capitalism a try! And if they don't like freedom, then let them lick the boots of their masters. Sorry, but I think it's time to shut down all funding of foreign military welfare. It's time these foreign nations learn how to stand on their own 2 feet.
End the Fed!
Do you really want to stop Obama's "change?" Do you really want to stop institutionalized health care? Do you really want to stop wealth redistribution, bailouts, and restore liberty in America? Because if you do, then an audit of the Federal Reserve must be your single top priority!
"A bill to audit the Fed could by force of logic become a state audit, much like the investigations of the 1972 Watergate burglary exposed the grinning skull behind the government's public persona. During a Fed audit, for example, would it not be reasonable to ask why the people's elected representatives continue to support a banking system that secretly steals wealth from their countrymen and other dollar holders? Or are we to take the naïve position that most elected officials really are clueless about the Fed's policy of currency debasement and the effects such policies have had in history?" - George F. Smith
Central Planning:
Do conservatives believe in central planning? I ask for 2 reasons:
- The Federal Reserve is the ultimate central planner. Because of this, I would think it'd be the biggest "issue" in conservative politics today.
- Isn't nation-building a form of central planning? The Great Society exported to the Middle East?
Truthers:
I'm thrilled to see Van Jones out of the White House! Our next move should be to get the Apollo Alliance out of Washington too! But here's the thing ...
Van Jones being a communist was the icing on the cake for me. After all, communism is the antithesis of liberty. Yet, that's not what raised the uproar to a level high enough to get him kicked out. Instead, it was his being a "truther" that finally raised enough outrage. Why?
Yes, I believe the "truthers" are wrong. In fact, a little nutty. But is it really a crime to suggest the federal government may, or may have, committed nefarious acts? Is it really outrageous to suspect the government of evil? Hardly! Our country was founded on a distrust of power and government!
"Truthers" may be wrong, but they are no threat to liberty. Communists however, pose a serious threat to liberty! So all our outrage against Van Jones, shouldn't it be focused squarely on the real threat - communism?
The Old Right:
Why are today's conservatives so quick to dismiss (and even attack) their heritage? The Old Right supports everything our country was founded on! The Old Right fought Big Government tooth and nail, while today's new right believes "the idea of a welfare state is in itself perfectly consistent with a conservative political philosophy." Really?
Plunder and theft is "consistent with a conservative political philosophy?"
When did conservatism learn to love the State?
Maybe you disagree with them on foreign policy. Fine. No 2 people in the world agree on everything. But is that really the most important issue today? What about our bankrupt government? Fascist takeovers of industry? Or coughing up more than 50% of your income to the government?
Isn't it arguable that right now, in your personal life, your own government is a bigger threat to you than any other?

Yep!
Sounds more like the fictional “conservatives” that media leftists called old-line Communists in Russia and other dictatorships, in trying to harm the term “conservative” by association.
