Knowledge is Power.

republican national convention 1992 Knowledge is Power. This post is a continuation of How to Elect a Conservative 2.

Knowledge is a powerful thing.

Knowledge of history is especially important, because it allows us to be on the look-out for warnings that can help us avoid future mistakes. Grassroots conservatives must stay aware of all the many tricks both our left-wing opponents, and the Republican Party will use to advance the candidates of their choice.

By accepting the knowledge, that the Republican Party is in part an opponent of ours, as grassroots conservatives then, we can use this knowledge to our advantage! But we have to be willing to fight all the way ...

We can't fold under any circumstance, from the beginning of the election-cycle to it's very end (when a candidate is nominated). Remember, we're not trying to elect "the next in line," "whoever is leading in the polls," nor even just another "Republican" ... We're out to elect a conservative!

So let's give 'em the fight of their lives!

Stay alert and fully prepared for “the propaganda blitz, the vicious charges, the phony polls, the spurious issues, [and] the slanted press” that will work against us. This is a high stakes game we're playing here. Sure, you and I may be in it for the politics, but the 2 Monopoly Parties are in it for something quite different ... the control over a multi-trillion dollar budget! Make no mistake about this either, their incentives are much different than our own.

So it's up to us! The burden of electing a genuine conservative falls exclusively on the shoulders, of dedicated grassroots conservatives. This is about us, not the Republican Party. But even more importantly ... this is about America and her freedoms and liberty. The party apparatus is nothing more than a tool we can use to help our cause, but it's our responsibility to get our candidate nominated and into office. If we instead just rely on the party, then we'll have chosen the road of surest defeat.

What this means then, is that our first priority is to get the right candidate on the ballot. Once they're on the ballot, we can then move to the next task - winning primaries and delegates. Don't worry about "winning" the election at this point, after all, the campaign-cycle hasn't even gone that far yet! It's still early in the game. Principles first!delegate dress tends toward the colorful Knowledge is Power.

Going over each of the above tactics individually is beyond the scope of this post, but I would like to recommend an excellent starting point for your own personal research. Be sure to read The Most Powerful Office In The World Is NOT The President of the United States! by Phyllis Schlafley.

Money, Money, Money …

Grassroots conservatives must NOT give any money to the Republican Party! I don't care what they try and tell you - Not One Red Cent!

Just realize and accept this one truth: The GOP's candidate, more often than not, will take the progressive point of view on every major issue! Whether it be illegal immigration, bailouts, freedom, taxes, global warming, or ... you name it! They consistently govern to the left of the Republican grassroots base.

Sure, they may hide this by structuring their "government programs” differently than Democrats do, but the truth of the matter remains ... a government program is a government program, which slowly erodes our liberty away. "Socialism-lite," is simply unacceptable!

There's NO REASON for you to give your hard-earned money to a political party that doesn't fully share your values and beliefs. In fact by doing so, you just end up using your money against yourself. So don't donate to the Republican Party. Instead, give exclusively to the individual candidates share your values and beliefs. Trust me ... if you want to see genuine change in the Republican Party, just turn off the money spigot and you'll soon find yourself pleasantly surprised.

Reminder: The party needs you, not the other way around. It's their responsibility to earn your support. So stop being so easy. 8-O

The Apologetic.

one seventy seven against the grain Knowledge is Power.DO NOT MAKE EXCUSES for any Republican acting contrary to your beliefs.

  • Don't like “socialism-lite?” Let it be known!
  • Don't like “compassionate conservatism?” Yell it from the mountain top!
  • Change your mind after 8 years in Iraq? Tell 'em so!
  • Didn't like the war from the start? Make it known!
  • Want laws repealed with no new programs enacted? Then let this be known to all!

Disagree loudly and actively! Also, don't even think about Democrats might say or do, in reaction to you complaints about any given Republican. They're going to twist and mangle your words, no matter what you say. Just ignore them, because they refuse to deal in facts anyway. If you find yourself becoming defensive, just turn the conversation around by asking them tough questions and/or simply ridicule them relentlessly. These 2 tactics will help you to stay in control of the conversation.

He who is asking the questions, controls the conversation.

Don't ever be a victim of the Left! Always remember the truth, we can only be the victims of ourselves. I mean, seriously ... if conservatives believe they are victims of Democrats, then I either want that divorce ... or for someone to just come over and just put me out of my misery.

Be a conservative first! Stop worrying about party affiliation  This way, you won't find yourself defending some Republican with whom you disagree. Be true to yourself! After all, how can you be true to anything else, if you're not true to yourself first?

Know What Game You're Playing.

vote republican1 Knowledge is Power.Knowledge is power. By having a greater understanding of our history (both the conservative movement and America in general), we increase our ability to play both offense and defense!

Being always alert and watching for warning signs, we'll be well prepared for anything our opponents might throw our way. Using our knowledge of how to get a conservative candidate on the ballot, win primaries and delegates, and ultimately the nomination ... We don't have to reinvent the wheel. Instead, we can stay focused on our proven game plan!

Grassroots conservatives also need to learn the details of each candidates big money donors. If the candidates biggest donors are people with whom you are at odds, then chances are, this is not the candidate for you. Why?

C'mon ... It's time to stop kidding yourself about how the world really works. It's plain and simple: Big money donors have more access and clout with politicians than you and I ever will, and that money does indeed buy policy.

Accept that the party apparatus will oppose any genuine conservative, and do so in multiple ways. Here, look at an election from the party's perspective for a moment. What are the Democrat and Republican parties fighting each other over? They're fighting for the control of a multi-trillion dollar budget ... to be shuffled around to pet projects, favored constituents, big money donors, and others.

Sure ... you, me, and your neighbor down the street are in it for freedom, liberty, and a better way of life. But make no mistake about it, the 2 Monopoly Parties are playing a different game. They're playing for POWER! Yes, this is indeed a very high stakes game. So we better be playing to win!

Lord Acton taught us an invaluable lesson about power. He told us:

Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Please read that again.

Because power corrupts, our Founding Fathers did their best to limit the power available to our politicians in the first place. Sadly though, we've let the politicians go way past those prudent restraints long ago.

Republican despotism is no more appealing than Democratic despotism, so remember, the DNC and RNC are fighting over who gets to control our multi-trillion dollar federal budget!

Do I really need to explain what this means?

Jesus told us:

"Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves."

Yes grassroots conservatives, be "wise as serpents."

    Money talks.

Yes it does! And there’s absolutely no reason to give money to the RNC. It’s the candidate we want to win, not the party. The “moderates” are who the party favors. So giving money to the party ends up helping elect people we don’t want.

The key point I was trying to make here, and I hope it comes across, is that it is up to us – “we the people” – not the party. We have different goals, hopes, and desires than the party itself. It can be commandeered, but conservatives are going to have to change their mind-set to do so.

I love the point about donating to the candidate, not the party. Money talks. We can change the Republican party but it will have to be in the primaries… that’s the hard part. I think a true Conservative, who could effectively gets his or her ideas across (like Reagan) would win a presidential election. They just have to get past all the republican moderates, aka the socialist-lite Republicans, in the primaries.
