In Michelle Obama is Wearing a New Dress last Saturday, I posted Depeche Modes' "New Dress" as a lamentation on the sad state of politics in America today. Tonight, we're going heavy ...

Blogging about politics day in and day out can drive you crazy, but it's also sort of path of self discovery in that it allows you to really see the hypocrisy of it all. Politics, that is.

My political philosophy has always been libertarian, but yet I've always considered myself a conservative. In life, I'd say I certainly am, but in politics ... not so much.

I'm a remnant. I believe in the original order - a constitutionally limited republican form of government. Democracy is a game of fools. Hardcore partisanship makes liars of us all. A virtuous society can only be found by maximizing freedom, not through handouts and/or regimenting laws.

It's lonely being a remnant too. I'm eternally grateful for all the traffic this blog receives on a daily basis, and for the many compliments I've received along the way too. The Classic Liberal Is a Good Blog. That's what keeps me going! It's why I'm typing away posting right now!

I won't quit. I wouldn't know how if I tried ...

But the following song by Alice In Chains, Last of My Kind, sums up how I've been feeling lately in both its mood and lyrics. And to the rest of you remnants out there, keep fighting the good fight! Come hell or high water, we'll win!

Alice in Chains - Last of My Kind

So young, so brazen, so unholy
I come to you in painted skies
Your broken saint, your ancient story
The living challenge to your lies

Trapped in the cold outside
There ain't no shelter
They wanna force my hand
Until I...

Take what I wanted, and
Break all the lies and
Defeat the fuckin' liars...
Smash all the temples, and
Crawl through the rubble, and
Cry to the fallen

I'm the last of my kind still standing
I'm the last of my kind still standing down the law

A wolf alone upon the hillside
I live on what they throw away
I go to sleep behind the eight ball
I live to fight for one more day

Trapped in the cold outside
There ain't no shelter
They wanna force my hand
Until I...

Take what I wanted, and
Break all the lies and
Defeat the fuckin' liars...
Smash all the temples, and
Crawl through the rubble, and
Cry to the fallen

I'm the last of my kind still standing...
I'm the last of my kind still standing on the wall

I'm the last of my kind still standing...
I'm the last of my kind still standing...

What say you?

Keep up the hard work. There are lots of us out here who believe the same things. I don't want a return to George W. Bush (although I'd take that over what we have). I want to return to the America our founders intended.

Oh, I'll keep fighting! I'm gonna fight until we get back to conservatives like Calvin Coolidge and Robert A. Taft!

You are not alone out there...

Yeah I know ... but it sure does feel like it sometimes. "Give me liberty, or give me death!"
