The war against radical Islam is serious. Too many people today choose to ignore this fact. Whether it's blatant or merely a by-product of our politically-correct society, I don't know. But this flippant attitude is allowing the Islamic tyrants to win. Why do I say this? Because this war is much more than a military battle, it's an ideological fight for all the freedoms we we hold dear.
What's happening can best be described as Fabian Jihad, a slow, carefully plotted creeping of sharia law into society. All over the globe, advanced western cultures are slowly being overtaken by radical Islam. France and their culture is close to being lost to the Islamists! Through immigration and legal challenges, they are setting up their own communities with their own laws, and when they don't get their way ... they RIOT!
Let's take a look at one of the small, seemingly trivial ways Fabian Jihad is creeping into America.
In Pennsylvania (the state where those good American folks "get bitter [and] cling to guns or religion"), they've been working on a memorial to honor the innocent and brave passengers of the infamous Flight 93. Yes, in typical government form, 7 years later they've still failed to get it done. But I digress ... The memorials major hurdle is it's design. The "Bowl of Embrace" seems more like a memorial to the terrorists than the Americans they killed.
Los Angeles-based architect Paul Murdoch's design was chosen out of more than 1,000 different proposals. Originally called the "Crescent of Embrace," it has stirred quite a controversy. Whether intentional or not, the winning design eerily contains significant Islamic symbolism. And while many continue to come up with excuse after excuse in support of keeping the design, others, led by Thomas Burnett Sr. (whose son died on Flight 93) and retired Army lieutenant colonel Harry Beam, are fighting for a new design. You can watch Tom Burnett's video at the end of this post.
Murdoch describes his design as a symbolically broken circle, turning it into a giant crescent. He says Flight 93 came down from the Northwest, so its path breaks the circle at the upper crescent, then continues down to the crash site, which is located between the crescent tips.
Perhaps his design wasn't intended to create Islamic symbolism, but it certainly does. In fact, more than just the crescent shape of the design appears to be directly related to Islam. We'll get to that in a moment.
Representative Tom Tancredo (R) from Colorado got involved back in 2005 by contacting then-National Park Service (NPS) Director Fran Mainella about the inappropriateness of the design. Eventually, in April 2006, NPS Director Mary Bomar ordered an investigation into the claims that the Flight 93 Memorial was full of Islamic symbolism, and possibly a memorial in honor of the terrorists. In typical government fashion however, they turned the investigation into a circus.
The "experts" hired by the NPS included Dr. Daniel Griffith, professor of "geo-spatial information" at the University of Texas. Here's what he had to say:
... Mr. Rawls's arithmetic calculations appear to be correct ... [but] ... just because calculations are correct does not make the resulting numbers meaningful.
Another "expert" was Dr. Kevin Jaques, a specialist in Islamic sharia law from the University of Indiana. And his response was:
...just because something is 'similar to' something else does not make it the 'same'.
Both are obviously arguing about intent. Here's what I have to say about the whole thing:
If the proposed memorial has enough Islamic symbolism (whether intended or not) that an investigation took place. Scrap the design! It's not that difficult!
Tancredo wrote another letter, this time to NPS Director Mary Bomar, again stressing this obvious point:
Regardless of whether or not the invocation of a Muslim symbol by the memorial designer was intentional, I continue to believe that the use of this symbol is unsuitable for paying appropriate tribute to the heroes of Flight 93 or the ensuing American struggle against radical Islam that their historic last act has come to symbolize.
Eventually, they made a few small changes and re-named it the "Bowl of Embrace," however, all of the Islamic symbolism remains today.
You have to ask yourself, why does the NPS insist on this one design? There's more than 1,000 others to choose from, but instead, they continue the circus of defending this one particular design. Has political correctness reached the point of absurdity? Well ... yes, it has, but this situation is WAY over the top!
Flight 93 Memorial Islamic symbolism:
On his excellent blog Error Theory, Alec Rawls provides in-depth detail of the proposed Flight 93 Memorial Mosque. I will provide some of it here in brief, but please go to his blog, or to his other site Crescent of Betrayal to learn more. Like I said, even if the symbolism is unintentional, this particular design must be stopped! Please sign this petition, and let your voice be heard!
1. The similarity between Murdoch's design and the Islamic crescent and star is undeniable. Take a look for yourself!
2. The giant crescent points (within 2 degrees) towards Mecca! The fact checking is easy to do.
3. Murdoch's design is the only one presented that that fails to meet the Memorial Project's requirement to "respect the rural landscape." A raised causeway has to be built by filling in wetlands that were meant to remain untouched.
4. The design includes 44 inscribed memorial blocks along the flight path in the Memorial Wall. Flight 93 had 40 passengers and crew, plus 4 terrorists. You do the math.
5. The date 9/11 will be inscribed on a separate wall in the exact position of the star on an Islamic crescent and star flag.
6. Murdoch's design has 38 Memorial Groves, forming a set of 19 nested crescents - one for each 9/11 terrorist.
7. The "Tower of Voices" is a year round accurate Islamic sundial! You can analyze the calculations here.
There is more! Please see Alec's blog for more detail.
