Not Just Another Republican

theCL  2008-12-24  Activism, Op-Ed

Being a typical late shopper, I had to run out and pick up a few more things yesterday, being that today is Christmas Eve and tomorrow is Christmas.

Thanks to the global warming that Prophet Algore continually preaches, we got an extra foot or so of snow, dragging my "quick trip" to the store, into a very long, boring day.

editor's note: if my above reference to Christmas offended you in any way, the only thing I can tell you is ... grow-up, get a backbone ... you're way too sensitive.  Keep a stiff upper lip, and get over it!

Was that sensitive enough for you?

Oh ... laugh a little ... will you?  Besides, there's a lesson in this post for everyone!

OK, back to business ... In my previous post, I made the following statement which I'd like to expand upon.

The Republican Party needs YOU! Not the other way around. Why support a business that doesn't offer the product you want?

The Republican Party is not conservative.  In fact, the Republican Party is nothing more than a Left-leaning political corporation.  So it's time "we the people" accept this reality and start acting independently.

At first, I felt a little awkward breaking this to you on such an important day, but then it hit me ...  there's no better time to talk about this than right now!

As you gather with your friends and family to celebrate the birth of Jesus, stop and reflect on what God did.  Valuing our INDIVIDUAL souls so much, knowing there wasn't a single possible way for us to earn salvation on our own ...  He sent His only Son to suffer and die in our place.

How does this fit in with politics and the Republican Party?

Well, just ask yourself ... Does the Republican Party value the INDIVIDUAL with such esteem and commitment?  Does the Republican Party show even an ounce of this grace toward the individual?

If you're to be honest with yourself, the answer is clearly NO.

The tougher question then becomes ... do you share God's admiration of each and every individual, or do you feel the State must pick up, where you feel God apparently forgot?

The Left worships the State.  They can laugh all they want about belief in God, but worshiping God is far more logical than the worship of a massive, corrupt, controlling bureaucracy.  But regardless of that, they do have one up on both conservatives and libertarians.

How so?

OK, two up.  First, they hold an unbending faith in the bureaucracy, never straying from their Statist agendas.  They believe in control and push for control.  Conservatives, believe in the individual, except in situations they disapprove of, or worse ... when the Republican Party claims a need to increase State powers.

Second, because of their unbending faith in bureaucratic control, the Left doesn't hesitate to turn against, and pounce on their elected officials.  I mean ... over the past couple of weeks, every (so-called) conservative pundit has been laughing at the many Leftists turning against "the One."

But conservatives shouldn't be laughing ...  instead they should be learning a valuable lesson.  Nevermind the party, fight for principle! Wearing an "R" on your lapel should never be enough to earn your support.

And while libertarians bicker all day about the "correct" definition of libertarianism and/or just exactly who "really" is libertarian ... I have the same question for all libertarians as I do for all conservatives ...

Where's your "Code Pink" and "Moveon" etc?

Today, conservatives sit around waiting to see what the Republican Party is going to do, hoping and wishing for change ... while the libertarians pontificate.

Maybe it's just me, but don't you think it's time to take action?

It's not over.

And conservatives ... unless you wish to completely scrap the Constitution, remember these people (Republicans, politicians, the government, etc) are NOT our "leaders." We pay them!  They work for us!

"We the people" are the leaders!  And neither hope or a white flag will put the power back where it belongs ... in our hands.

And conservatives ... this doesn't mean you can't vote Republican, it's a free country!  Vote for who you want!  But it does mean that it's now time to separate conservatism (a philosophy) from the Republican Party (a political corporation).  Because if we don't ... there's no chance of ever seeing sincere liberty in our country again.

Pick a single issue, get together with like minded individuals, and hammer it home any way you can!  There's no reason to "coordinate" with a political party.  Just do it!

Get local! It's the best place to create change.

As the new year begins, we'll be discussing in more detail about how to create conservative/libertarian activism.  It's now or never folks, and relying on a political corporation and/or pontification simply isn't enough.

It's now or never.

In America, the government (including its politicians and bureaucrats) is neither our “leader” nor an “authority” over us (we the people). The same goes for any given political party.

Our Constitution, if it were to be actually followed, doesn’t allow for taking from one to give to another, nor for running up endless taxpayer debt to buy votes, er, uh, I mean, for redistribution to pet projects, programs, and constituents.

very nicely said…now if people will get off their asses and vote for someone because of what their beliefs are…not because of the color of their skin, or somehow think they are due something. americans have become lazier and lazier wanting a free handout whereever they can get it. i dont disagree with trying to get something for free or cheaper from the government but come on get off ur ass and get a job and stop complaining that the government owes you. they government was founded for one reason.. to protect you. not to give you free stuff cuz ur too damn lazy to work. wake up america!!!

    good stuff as always
