What say you?

Stop misstating the facts. Newt was in a divorce, he is not "Adulterous" in the moral sense, and, no, "evangelist" are not abandoning their principles". You are abandoning common sense, not to mention decency, in your lust for the power of your choice and section, You engage intellectual dishonesty in order to support a Democrat electioneering effort. Once again, you prove that you are a modern liberal and not a "classical" one.

"wars should only be fought with the consent of Congress (which is constitutionally mandated, as opposed to all the policing actions and wars that the U. S. has been involved in since World War II) "

More hogwash. This is just standard Communist, Cold War agi-prop, and is completely at odds with the facts. If fact, their have been no wars, save Obama's adventures, and perhaps some of Clinton, that have not approved by congress. There is nothing "unconstitutional" about them. You parrot a bald lie.

The real truth is that these wars were for the most part against Communism and other vile forms of collectivist tyranny. This "Modern Liberals" cannot abide for they are in fact cryto-Communists themselves. This Democrats cannot abide. This you cannot abide.

Once again, you show your true colors. You are not a classical liberal at all. You use some obscure implication by cherry picking biblical references to condone the treasonous support of the left for Americans enemies. When we live in a world where the left can slander decent American Marines, as in the hidatha debacle, and ruin their careers, and get away with it then one can see the merits of this. When you see the POTUS of the USA KOWTOWING to arab leaders and actually apologizing to them when in fact we have shown great restraint, one can see where this comes from.

It defies all decency and common sense for you to take the rhetorical tact that you are taking here. It is profoundly dishonest in any dimension one can imagine.

The "golden rule", BYTW, is no sense is a suicide pact and does not apply to national policy. Moreover, the bible if full of martial advice to the children of God. this is just more Left wing abuse of religious faith. It is cherry picking for rhetorical effect. Chritianity is not some sort of left wing hootenanny.

It is comic to here the left grouse about this when they themselves have complete contempt for the very notion of a supernatural (As in "above nature") moral codes or precepts. There Gos is Karl Marx, And he oraculates in tones of utilitarianism and and material determinism

If you are so concerned with morality, here are a few ideas for you:

    You shall not steal.
You shall not bear false witness.
Envy, jealousy and covetousness are sins, deadly sins.

What a dishonest and confused hypocrite you are.

Looks like Hannity's off his meds again. Got talking points much?

    We know all about Newt.
We are starting to learn about evangelicals.

  • Budd E. Shepherd January 24, 2012 at 10:10 am

So have you been in one of the big "Evangelical" churches lately? I'd say Newt is a pretty good example of the modern Evangelical. Except he should be wearing short pants and sandals. Probably saves those for church...
Most Christian people are fairly patriotic and completely miss the point that they were taken for a ride by the last president who basically got into office by mimicking the simple but very exclusive of Evangelicalism. I've been called on to speak in church and I can go on for a good twenty minutes by stringing together meaningless christian phrases.
In fact God may give Newt the Grace and forgiveness to over come the slander of the left and to lead our great democracy to the greatness God intended for our city-on-a-hill. The refuge of those who followed the light of God though the darkness of a evil world to the wonderful prosperity that is the gift He wants to bless us with, if we only wear short pants and make a lot of money and support killing people who we should instead be sending waves 9f missionaries instead of US marines who we then put in jail.
    But, I digress...
Why don't Christians in the US who seem to love Newt and believe in that inane Just War Theory demand we send soldiers to evacuate Christians in Iraq?
Anyway I left you a rambling comment instead of writing my own blog but to provide a quick summery.
    1. I agree with you
    2. Newt is a morally compromised character.
    3. Newt was morally compromised in politics before the BS about his marriage came out.
    4. I think Evangelical Christians have lost touch with the simple message of salvation and forgiveness of sin which is completely separate from the concept of multi-level marketing, financial investments, real estate, or kicking the ass of a broadly defined but not easily contained ememy.
    5. Evangelicals learned nothing from the Bush presidency.
    6. We are doomed..
    7. harumpf is a pretty good example
    8. I get off topic

  • Budd E. Shepherd January 24, 2012 at 10:45 am

I seem to have omitted a key phrase. I should have said, "mimicking the simple but exclusive language of Evangelicalism." I meant the meaningless codewords Christians say to each other. Which keep them one step removed from the true meaning of scripture.

Newt's a Catholic now. Am I the only one who remembers what the Reformation was all about?
It would also appear that the fix is in, for Newt had to cancel an event in SC do to lacking attendance, but won the primary. Got Diebold?

    • silverfiddle January 24, 2012 at 2:17 pm

What? Catholics are not allowed in the public dialogue?

  • silverfiddle January 24, 2012 at 2:16 pm

There are no small government conservatives in the race. If you're voting republican you may as well put on a blindfold and throw a dart...

Newt won because he righteously flamed that cnn guy, and all the press by implication.

Gary Johnson is an attractive candidate with a solid record as a fiscally-conservative, small government governor. My only quibble with him is he is for legalizing some drugs and using the progressive state to backstop the inevitable fallout.

So all it takes is to smart alleck a paid media hack - that is the level of deep political thought going on in the electorate. That's why the Founding Fathers required property ownership to be eligible to vote. That way, only the learned would be voting.

The Catholic comment means that Newt's conversion is pretty darn convenient, and I find it just a little strange that Catholics are supposed to be reaching for the Evangelical vote. In case you don't know, up until the last 20 years, in many Protestant churches, Catholics weren't considered Christians at all. Newt's dialogue is not worth listening to, because it's just what someone has paid to put in his swarmy mouth.

Ron Paul is the most small government conservative congressman of the past 65 years according to one recent survey. I'm so proud of him.
