The Partisan Problem

we the people The Partisan ProblemPartisanship may have its purposes, but partisanship isn't what this is about.

Mary Baker speaks both for and to everyone, in her brilliant "Why I am no longer an African American."

I now part ways with the classification of African American because I hold no allegiance to Africa. I embrace the American qualities of freedom to worship, freedom to have my own opinion, freedom to express my views, freedom to achieve whatever it is God has created me to achieve. I hope that I will find others like me who are willing to break ties with the things that divide us, and embrace the timeless principles that have made this country the greatest nation on earth. That is why, when the next U.S. Census occurs, I will be making a new category just for me, the classification of being an American.

The Embrace of Party Politics:

I often like to call the whole Democrat vs. Republican thing - Team Politics. Another way of describing it though, is choosing the concept of party politics, over the concepts of freedom and liberty. This party-first concept creates quite a paradox too ...

In which you find yourself supporting a party or politician, even when their acts violate your personal beliefs.

Since registering to vote almost 23 years ago, I have witnessed the government grow bigger and more expensive than it ever has before, while it slowly whittles our individual liberties away. The train to socialism just keeps chugging along ... And not once did the Democrat vs. Republican debate put on the brakes.

If John McCain had been elected president, we would still be rolling down the tracks towards socialism. Maybe slower. But still on our way.

More from Mary Baker:

I began to think about how we all got to be categorized in the first place. I have not noticed on any forms that the category of American is an option to be selected. Is this division amongst us perpetrated by our very own government? It is obvious that the inspiration for the classification of African American has nothing to do with those born of African descent.

The government (and others) want "we the people" divided against each other, because this way, a government "by the people, for the people" cannot exist.

Hyphenating the "classes" is just another method of division too.

A metaphor ...

The following quote was written by President Bill Clinton's mentor Professor Carroll Quigley, in "Tragedy and Hope." Nevermind the conspiracy theories ... just read it as a metaphor.

"The argument that the two parties should represent opposed ideals and policies, one, perhaps, of the Right and the other of the Left, is a foolish idea acceptable only to the doctrinaire and academic thinkers. Instead, the two parties should be almost identical, so that the American people can "throw the rascals out" at any election without leading to any profound or extreme shifts in policy."

Yep, they shuffle things around ... SSDD.

"We the People"

Not that long ago, those 3 words defined a new world in which the entire people would be sovereign. Never in history had a nation or empire been described this way before. The government belonged to the whole of the sovereign people, the masters.

A government to serve "we the people," not to command us.

Today however, we elect people to boss us around, and it costs us 50% of our income for their services (and they use guns to collect too). We decide who is best suited for this job by picking one of 2 sides - Democrat or Republican.

The (not so) funny thing is, that when you stop and think about it ... most of what we argue about, is just partisan crap.

We all have friends and family members on the "other side of the aisle." Truth is, we all have pretty much the same "problems" too. All of us - every man, woman, and child - share a common struggle - taxes and inflation. They're eating us alive!

Taking our children's futures too.

When I first read Mary's article, I didn't need to know her politics to know I was on her side. "We the people" have a lot more in common than we do with either of the 2 parties. So our first order of business must be to take the power back, and reclaim the people's sovereignty.

It's not about Democrats vs. Republicans ... It's Us vs. Them!

    Sad. But true.
