According to a recent Rasmussen poll, Republicans are gaining ground.
Partisan Trends: 35.4% Democrat 33.0% Republican
During the month of June, the number of Republicans across the nation inched up by a full percentage point while the number of Democrats increased fractionally. It is normal for the number unaffiliated with each party to decline as an election draws near and that’s what happened in June.
In June, 35.4% of American adults identified themselves as Democrats. That’s up less than a point from a month ago and down less than a point from two months ago. For the past eight months, the number of Democrats has stayed between 35.1% and 36.0% of the population every single month.
In June, the number of Republicans grew to 33.0%. That’s the highest total in 2010, but just 1.4 percentage points above the low. For the past six months, the number of Republicans has stayed between 31.6% and 33.0% every month.
The number not affiliated with either major party is now at 31.6%.
More bad news for dems ... I'm not so sure, but others seem to be excited about it.
Republicans Gaining Fast
Obviously, peeling away Democrats gets harder as you approach nearer the core, those who have serious amounts of money at stake in Democrat rule. But here is the lesson I would draw: the media like to characterize the nation's mood as anti-incumbent, and to some degree that is true. It is also true that today's conservative resurgence, as embodied in the Tea Party movement and related phenomena, is principled, not partisan. But equally true, and perhaps more important, is the fact that many millions of Americans are rebelling against the disastrous leadership of Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, and understand that the Republican Party represents the nation's best hope for recovery.
Other polls have shown independents leaning Republican by as much as 60/40, but I think that has more to do with the excitement around a handful of Tea Party backed candidates like Rand Paul and Marco Rubio. I certainly don't believe it's because people "understand that the Republican Party represents the nation's best hope for recovery."
It's a given that people are angry with the Obama administration, and for good reason too! But nobody has forgotten about George W. Bush's TARP administration. You know, the Republicans who started the whole stinking economic mess.
All I know is that I see the same stinking faces in Washington that I've seen my whole life. The same egotistical, arrogant, snobs who poke fun at the Tea Parties, even though they're directly responsible for the Great Depression ahead. Republican, Democrat, they're all ***holes to me, and I've been a registered Republican since the day I turned 18.
So I'd advise Republicans not to get their hopes up just yet, because other than a handful of new, Tea Party backed candidates, the rest of the same old Republican Establishment has nothing to offer, except change.
And we all know how well that went last time ...

I do not have much faith in any of them CL. I think both parties are poison to the Republic. I used to be a registered Republican and then a broke away when I realized that they was very little difference in terms of government expansion between the two parties.
You're right! They're really just 2 wings of the same party - The Big Government Party.
