Pussy Galore

theCL  2009-05-24  Op-Ed

In regards to the RNC's Pelosi video, much of the reaction from the right as been absolutely pathetic.  Hey folks, if you don't want to fight, then you don't want to win.  It's that simple.

I'm not linking to the whiners.  They don't deserve it, nor are they worth reading.   It's just the same old yack, yack, yack ... Go read a lefty blog. Same thing.

Over the past few days, I've learned the RNSC supports Big Government Statists, Republicans don't want libertarians, Republicans can't handle a joke, and Republicans fear upsetting Democrats ... And they wonder why fewer voters identify as Republicans?

As long as this is how they're going to continue to act - elites for Big Government, constituents against libertarians, loads of pathetic whining over a well-done video - you couldn't get me to identify as a Republican with a gun to my head!

These folks get it!

Jeff G at Protein Wisdom:

Conservatives deserve to wander in the wilderness so long as they continue to accept the premises that Democrats foist upon them, and then scurry about trying to fit their behavior inside parameters that have been defined for them by their ideological enemies.

Call me when "conservatives" are ready to get serious. Because as it stands, our high-traffic spokespeople seem content to play by the left's rules while humping each other for traffic.

The fact is, were GOP candidates to refuse to allow progressives to frame debates by tacitly legitimizing their complaints - if instead, they threw such disingenuousness directly back into the faces of those peddling it - these candidates would have nothing to fear. Better still, they'd be liberated to both expose (and explain) how such tactics are intended to work, and why they are so intellectually dishonest.

R.S. McCain says:

No, this is brilliant. Get your enemy to promote your message, and do it in such a way that everybody who clicks will sit through the whole video in hopes of seeing -- "Pussy!" -- what the Left tells them they're going to see.

The joke is on the critics, of course, since the same term is a common substitute for "wimp," and "Democrats Galore" rather cuts to the heart of what the GOP is really trying to say about Democrats' approach to national security, eh?

Stand by Liberty says:

Whats a joke here is that the left attacked Sarah Palin everyday in the most personal ways possible. Nothing was off limits, her marriage, her family, even her daughter who just had a baby. She was called some of the most vulgar names you can think of as was her family and even her religion was attacked. It seems to me that none of them have any room to be speaking about being respectful to a woman, they don't even know what that means.

Nancy Pelosi brought this on herself by spinning a tale and then not being able to remember what she lied about. She mumbles and fumbles her way in front of the cameras in what has to be the worst press conference by anyone ever, but that's OK, don't you criticize her that's not fair. Give me a break. She's an opportunist who got burned because she lied, its that simple. They can try to frame it anyway they want and she's still gonna be a liar. If Democrats had any convictions at all they would call for her removal as speaker, don't hold your breath for that to happen.

Jimmie from The Sundries Shack:

I do agree that the ad does send the wrong message. Nancy Pelosi is not a Bond villain; she's much worse than that. Here's the ad. Judge for yourself if the RNC is calling Pelosi "Pussy Galore" or if they're saying that Pelosi's craven weaseling is emblematic of the Democratic Party over the past six years.

It also wouldn't hurt for someone to point out to Ms. Coller that Pussy Galore wasn't actually a villain in Goldfinger. She helped James Bond defeat the bad guy.
