Why Rachel Maddow was part of a panel on Meet the Press, I couldn't tell you. It just goes to show you why you shouldn't take TV "experts" seriously.

While discussing Sarah Palin's upcoming book Going Rogue, Maddow takes a cheap-shot at Robert Stacy McCain. From Pat in Shreveport:

Rachel Maddow Attacks Stacy McCain

Rachel Maddow on Meet the Press this morning, called Robert Stacy McCain a white supremacist. I'm thinking she's been listening to Charles Johnson a little too much.

The panel was discussing the Sarah Palin book, Going Rogue, when Maddow offers her criticism of Lynn Vincent, Palin's ghostwriter. Maddow explains that Lynn Vincent "co-authored a book with a guy who is widely believed to be , and I believe him to be, a white supremacist. So she's [Palin] chosen Lynn Vincent who has written a book with a white supremacist to write her book." Robert Stacy McCain and Lynn Vincent co-authored Donkey Cons: Sex, Crime, and Corruption in the Democratic Party in 2006.

I'm just going to second my friend William Jacobson who defended Stacy McCain back in September when this meme started. I've read NOTHING in Stacy's works to support such an accusation and it seems to me that Maddow just lowers the level of debate when she spews trash garnered from Charles Johnson.

Here's more from Professor Donald Douglas at American Power:

Rachel Maddow Attacks Robert Stacy McCain as White Supremacist

I've already testified with all my strength to Robert Stacy McCain's goodness, fairness, and racial evenhandedness. I know this is not a racist man. But for whatever statements he's made, or that have falsely been attributed to him, the radical left is using Robert Stacy McCain to score libelously cheap political points.

I've noted as well that Charles Johnson's turned his entire blogging platform into destroying the reputations of others.

My personal opinion:

I've been blogging for about a year now. At first I didn't really know what I was doing, but I knew I wanted to find some other good conservative/libertarian blogs. I had come across Little Green Footballs a a few times, it seemed to be touted as a "conservative" blog, but I was never impressed, in fact, I usually found myself at great odds with the nonsense spewed there. (Note: I did poke fun of Little Green Footballs once.)

I found Robert Stacy McCain's blog, oh, probably sometime around last January. I've read it daily ever since. Being an information junkie, I've read through some of his archives too. McCain is a stand-up guy. He's the best thing the conservative media has going for it. McCain is not a racist by any stretch of the imagination.

Rachel Maddow should either put down the crack-pipe and stop getting her information from Little Green Footballs, a tabloid smear site, or stop her bald faced lying. Either way, this is just another cheap attack by Maddow in an attempt to silence debate.

Please read Stacy's response here: When I dreamed long ago of appearing some day on 'Meet the Press' . . .

UPDATE:

My crack-pipe comment above has just been verified.

Is Rachel Maddow a Crack Whore? Some Say She Is, and I Believe She Is.

So with that said, let's apply Rachel's despicable reporting standards to Rachel. "Rachel Maddow is widely believed to be, and I believe her to be, a crack whore." Therefore, Sarah Palin's book was criticized on the air by a crack whore. Are you going to believe a crack whore? Especially one who looks like your younger brother? Of course not.

See? I "believe" it. Don't you?

RACHEL MADDOW: CRACK WHORE?

I've known Stacy for nearly a year now. We have never met or spoken, but have communicated many times with each other. Since I became aware of him, I have read many of his works from over the years [check out here for some of his older writings—many good pearls to be discovered there] ... His advice has been priceless, as has been his encouragement and good cheer. Never once have I read one word of his that could remotely be accused of being evidence for Maddow's baseless and malicious charges ...

Rachel Maddow is a dupe, but Robert Stacy McCain is NOT a white supremacist or racist

If Maddow wants to work guilt-by-association on anyone, why didn’t she start with Moammar Gaddafi’s testimonial for Obama when he was running for president ... Or Louis Farrakhan’s testimonial for Obama? The last I looked they were on YouTube, fer cryin’ out loud. And isn’t Gaddafi a Muslim supremacist — commanded by Allah to kill all unbelievers? And isn’t Farrakhan a Muslim black supremacist ... Why is there no guilt-by-association for Obama with ANY of the murderers, crooks, Commies, kooks, anti-Semites and tax-evaders that comprise the rogues’ gallery of his life-long bosom friends and fellow travelers? Why is there no guilt-by-association for Obama due to his intimate ties to Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn — who missed killing ME by 10 minutes in 1970, Valerie Jarrett, Rashid Khalidi, Tony Rezko, Rev. Jeremiah Wright and Franklin Marshall Davis, just to name a few?

Apparently, since cries of RAAAAACIST have lost their potency, Gleichschaltung-wise, the new improved smear is WHITE SUPREMACIST!!! Well, both are lies and neither one is going to work.

Robert Stacy McCain is NOT a racist.

UPDATE 2:

Guilt by association

One of these guys was called a white supremacist on Meet the Press Sunday.

The other was chairman of the Democratic National Committee for four years. And is friends with Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Both Hillary Clinton and Sarah Palin are two steps away from Stacy McCain.

What stops 'guilt by association' from jumping to the Secretary of State?

Rachel Maddow, we await your answer.

The “Stacy McCain Is a Racist” Meme.

I haven’t seen any evidence whatsoever that Stacy’s a racist, or a white supremacist, or anything of the sort. Certainly, I’ve seen him buying drinks for black people, so I can’t give those who sling the accusation around much credit. The man can’t even bring himself to shun lesbians, for crying out loud, and he’s a social conservative!

UPDATE 3:

Rachel Maddow Makes Stacy McCain (More?) Famous

All I can think of here is that Stacy, whom I suspect at least partly subscribes to the notion that there ain’t any such thing as bad publicity (make sure they spell my name right) has to be loving this kind of crap.

Rachel Maddow Rages against the Dying of the Light

For too long, leftists have succeeded in controlling the framework and context of public argument by constantly putting conservatives on the defensive. This has worked because conservatives have let leftists get away with the strategy.

The leftists fail to see that they have succeeded in making their cries of racism a corollary of Godwin's Law. Perhaps this sounds counter-intuitive, but I can't help but think that this is a good thing. The reckless attribution of white supremacism represents the last baffled and enraged howl of the old-media dinosaurs as the new-media meteor goes roaring through the cybersphere ...

What say you?
