Kentucky Republican Rand Paul made another so-called "controversial" statement.

In other words, truth is the new controversy.

Rand Paul Likens Economic Decline To Fall Of Roman Empire, Warns Of 'A Day Of Reckoning' (VIDEO)

When Kentucky Republican Rand Paul took to the podium at a Tea Party rally in his home state Thursday night, the Senate hopeful compared the decline of the United States economy to the fall of the Roman Empire.

The Courier Journal reports:

"In the latter days of Rome, the economy was crumbling, the emperor ... would placate the mob with bread and circus -- food and entertainment to placate them since the economy was in shambles and dwindling around them," Paul told several hundred people gathered for the rally in a Bullitt County park.

"Now in our country, as our economy is in shambles, they give us Cash for Clunkers and a stimulus check and they tell us to go to the mall and spend your money and everything will be OK ... That's not how you become prosperous as an individual or a country," he told the crowd of supporters.

At the Tea Party event, Paul also warned his audience that he expects the country will face "a day of reckoning" down the line.

Here's video.

People don't like to hear the truth, especially on the left. It's hard to blame them in a way too, because our economic truth is a bloody nightmare.

As I wrote yesterday, we're heading into a New Great Depression, and I didn't even include the fact that only 6 months now we'll be getting the Largest Tax Hike In American History to boot!

But don't take my word for it, just listen to what economist Robert Wenzel has to say.

Congratulations on Getting that Masters Degree, Now What Are You Going To Do?

Bottom line, any sector of the economy that the government has been promoting aggressively, from housing to education, is collapsing. It is all a manipulated mess.Think about it. The government has twisted the American Dream into being about owning a home and getting a "good"education, even if you can't afford either and don't know what to do with either if the government hands you the money to get both.

The government pumped up both products, so that many people using government money,or government guaranteed money, have bought into the pumped up dream ...

The world is changing and everything government has touched is collapsing. If you are thinking about getting a graduate degree because it is important to have a "good" education, forget about it. The government has loaded so many flunkies into these programs that those graduating out of these programs are getting little respect, and will be getting even less respect in the future. These degrees will be like owning a house in Detroit.

The increase in the unemployment for masters degree graduates to 4.2% is just the start. It will be in double digit levels in no time. The country and the world is changing, and it won't be a better place for most ... The government has destroyed most of the easy routes and appears to be on a campaign to close even more.

See The Big Collapse Could Be Very Near, also by Robert Wenzel.

Rand Paul's analogy is spot on, the writing's on the wall. As it did the Roman Empire, our "day of reckoning" will come. Unfortunately, it's going to be sooner than later too. Our corporatist system is simply unsustainable.

Howard Davidowitz: U.S. Economy "Is a Complete Disaster"

The U.S. economy is in shambles and Americans will continue to see high unemployment and lower living standards in the years to come, Howard Davidowitz tells Henry and Aaron in the accompanying clip.

Davidowitz lays much of the blame for the economy's woes at the feet of the Obama administration, which he calls "the worst of my lifetime."

Yeah, I know you're supposed to "accentuate the positive" and everything in politics. But right now, we need more honesty.

It's time to get real. There's no magic potion the government can use to make what they're doing work positively, so we're facing a long road ahead. We need more honest people like Rand Paul, who's willing tell it the way it is. After all, the truth shall set you free.
