Scenes from a video shot from a streetcar travelling down Market Street in San Francisco in 1905.

This is a strangely fascinating film from a streetcar in San Francisco 1905, before the earthquake, that illustrates what it means for an order to emerge out of seeming chaos. There are a thousand accidents waiting to happen that do not happen, namely because of rational individual planning and self interest. In some ways, it is a beautiful image of freedom. - Jeffrey Tucker

Yes. People did and can live peaceful, productive lives, without the overbearing hands of regulators (central planners).

What say you?

Very cool CL. Yes we can live in peace without the heavy hand of the central government wrapped around our throats.

Yes its not the quantity but the quality. Its how you regulate that matters not how much. And that requires knowledge. As the conservative control of congress, the white house and the supreme court showed, careless belligerent uninformed deregulation will get you into the kind of mess we are in now.

To blame a lack of regulation, is to ignore the Federal Reserves never-ending supply of money back by nothing but thin air which constantly depreciates the dollars you work hard for, the blatant crime, corruption, and dishonest accounting at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and the Congress's bipartisan push for, and support of, these criminal activities.

If we need any new and/or better regulations, we should start with regulations that regulate the regulators!
