Professor Douglas gets things rolling with Full Metal Saturday: Mary-Louise Parker!
Yes (all you geeks out there), I know she's not in the movie, but I thought the post title was good, so I used it. This week's Rule 5 (How to Get a Million Hits) brings you Summer Glau!
Summer Lyn Glau (34-23-33) is best known for her role in (the best series ever to get canceled) Serenity, and as Cameron Phillips, the Terminator programmed to protect John Conner in Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles. She is definitely the hottest robot ever!
Born on July 24, 1981, in San Antonio, Texas, she started her career as a dancer, from there she got into acting. In 2002, Summer had a guest spot on "Angel," and was also cast on a new sci-fi program "Firefly," as River Tam. She has since been on" Cold Case," the film "Sleepover," "CSI, "The Unit," "The 4400," and "Tess Doerner".
She also stars in the science fiction film "Mammoth," which was filmed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, U.S., and Bucharest, Romania.
Glau was voted Best Actress of 2005 by highly acting critique I.Q.ed readers of SFX magazine, a Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress and was runner up for Best Actress/Movie in the SyFy Genre Awards for her role in Serenity. In 2008, she was awarded another Saturn Award for her performance as Cameron Phillips in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
"When I learned how to fight, we actually made contact. I learned how to roll off their face when I punched, and tapped them when I kicked them. I had to appear like I was pushing with all my force but I was actually just tapping. That was really hard. I'm glad that I did it, but I don't ever want to do martial arts again." - Summer Glau
Could Summer Glau be the New Lara Croft in Tomb Raider reboot?
Among names put forward is Summer Glau, who played cyborg Cameron in the just-cancelled Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Glau, 27, is pictured here striking an amazingly similar pose to Jolie's Lara Croft, in a montage courtesy of Underwire.
Another suggestion is 32-year-old British actress Rhona Mitra, who was the body model for the video game character and has appeared in the films Doomsday and Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.
Whedon wants Glau for Dollhouse:
With the cancellation of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Summer Glau could be heading back to television with a role in Joss Whedon's Dollhouse, according to the creator himself.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly columnist Michael Ausiello, Whedon said that he was far ahead of fans who have been calling for the 27-year-old actress to appear on his show, which was recently and controversially renewed for a second season by its parent network, Fox. "If anybody thinks [bringing Summer onto Dollhouse] hasn't occurred to me already then they have not met me," said Whedon. "I mentioned it to her before [Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles] was canceled. I was like, ‘You know, we should get you in the 'house.' But first we have to come up with something that works."
"Summer would be perfect to play an active, but she's done that [type of role] a lot," he said about including her in the series. "I'd rather see her play someone who talks too much. The most fun I have is when I get somebody who's good and comfortable at doing something, and then I make them do something else."
Apparently, Whedon isn't the only one thinking this way either: "Summer said to me, ‘I would like to play a normal girl before I die of extreme old age.'" Dollhouse will return for its second season later this year on Fox.
