Senator Barack Obama's now famous pretentious remarks to his wealthy, egocentric campaign donors in San Francisco, was only the tip of the iceberg in watching the Left show their genuine contempt for the middle class.

" ... it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations," Obama said of the Pennsylvania electorate.

While the Left often mocks the middle class, they've really been outdoing themselves since Sen. John McCain announced Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his Vice President nominee.

Representative Rahm Emanuel (D): "Is this really who the Republican Party wants to be one heartbeat away from the Presidency? Given Sarah Palin's lack of experience on every front and on nearly every issue, this Vice Presidential pick doesn't show judgement: it shows political panic."

Senator Chuck Schumer (D): "Certainly the choice of Palin puts to rest any argument about inexperience on the Democratic team and while Palin is a fine person, her lack of experience makes the thought of her assuming the presidency troubling."

I'd like to point out that this genuine middle class mom turned Governor, has more years of both government, and executive experience than Barack Obama. Also ... the thing the Left fails to understand (and always will), is that many of us on the Right (such as myself), prefer someone in office that comes from outside the Beltway.

Jane Smiley: "Has she ever been called a "c***?"

"If the red phone rings in the middle of the night and she's breastfeeding, will she answer it?"

It's worth nothing, that in her article "The Unteachable Ignorance of the Red States", Smiley also stated (emphasis added), "The error that progressives have consistently committed over the years is to underestimate the vitality of ignorance in America ... The history of the last four years shows that red state types, above all, do not want to be told what to do - they prefer to be ignorant."

Yes, according to Jane Smiley, if you prefer to make your own decisions, YOU are IGNORANT!

Michael Seitzman: "She's never actually used the word Shiite in a sentence before. She's never had to. She's never given any thought whatsoever to nuclear proliferation. She's never had to. She's never thought about Israel, Russia, Korea, or Iran. She's never even thought about Mexico."

"She lacks the gravitas, she lacks the knowledge, she lacks the experience. If she were a news anchor we'd say she reeks of local."

Apparently Seitzman thinks he can read minds. How else could he know what she thinks about?

His clear implication is that unless you're a Beltway insider, a member of the Political Class, you're an idiot who doesn't THINK about anything. Also, what does this say about housewives and other career mothers? That they aren't smart enough to analyze such "meaty" matters?

And then he says Palin "lacks the gravitas"? This is the woman who took on her own political party, oil companies, and the Federal government! That's more "gravitas" than I've seen in a politician in my life time!

Robert Reich: "In choosing Sarah Palin, John McCain has subjected the nation to an unnecessary risk, at the very time when America can least afford to take unnecessary risks."

Yes, this middle class American is an unnecessary risk.  Wow!  If only the rest of us could be as "brilliant" as the economic-fascist Robert Reich.

John Roberts: "There's also this issue that on April 18th, she gave birth to a baby with Down's Syndrome ... and it raises the issue of how much time will she have to dedicate to her newborn child?"

Again ... what does this say about their view of career women in general?  The obvious implication is that they can't take care of their children.

Alan Colmes: He wrote an article on his blog titled "Did Palin Take Proper PreNatal Care?" where in insinuated that Governor Palin was at fault for her baby's disability.

Amanda Carpenter notes that Colmes deleted his post in spineless manner. Have these people no shame?

Amanda Carpenter also points out that Daily Kos has started a conspiratorial rumor that Palin "faked" her pregnancy, and that her daughter Bristol, is the real mother.

Well ... Bristol is about 5 months pregnant right now, so that pretty much puts the Kos' conspiracy to rest.

And to finish, Stephan Kinsella has posted on much of the above, plus an interesting statement by S. M. Olivia on the Mises Blog, and some statements by Leftist blog commentators.  S. M. Olivia pointed out the following in her blog comments (emphasis added):

The main debating point against Mrs. Palin is her lack of "experience," a term that lacks precise definition. Mrs. Palin served ten years in the Wasilla city government, two years as head of a state commission and a little less than two years as governor. This pales in comparison to the 36 years that Joseph Biden, the Democratic vice-presidential nominee, has spent in the Senate. But Mrs. Palin can claim a longer government career then Barack Obama, who has served half a Senate term and seven years prior in the Illinois legislature.

But it seems to me that "experience" is more about the possession of certain credentials then time spent furthering the evils of the state. Mr. Obama may not have any particular legislative achievements or "executive" experience, but he does possess an undergraduate degree from Columbia and a law degree from Harvard. Mrs. Palin, in contrast, has only an undergraduate degree from the University of Idaho - her fourth stop in an extended college career - financed partially through her winnings as a beauty pageant contestant. She is, as one Democrat told me yesterday, one step removed from white trash.

Credentialism is certainly rampant in this country, driven as it is by the growth of the state. Yet the vice presidency of the United States remains an office where credentials seem to have little or no meaning.

And from the Leftist blog commentators (emphasis added):

"If McCain gets elected, whats next? Walmart check out clerk nominated for Sec. of Labor? NASCAR driver for Sec. of Transportation?"

"Unless the Dems can exploit Palin's scandals quick enough, her hooters will carry her to office. Yes they will, I'm sorry to say. We're dealing with the American electorate here, not a bunch of geniuses."

These comments are pretty much spot on. They expose the left, and the media's (what's the differnce??) absolute contempt for the middle class, belie their calls for change and a breathtakingly hypocritical view of "experience."
