The Libertarian Vote

Note: This post was set for early this morning, however ... a power outage changed that.

An Open Letter to all Libertarians:

It is true, that for a very long time now, the Republican Party has undeservedly benefited from the Libertarian vote.  The party that had started a comeback under Goldwater and Reagan gave us much hope, but it soon turned its back on Libertarians ... but it turned its back on "conservatives" too.  The current electoral struggles of the Republican party were not born by "conservatives," but from the party's abandonment of the Goldwater/Reagan platforms ... and the majority of Americans who genuinely want to shrink the government.

I'm not here to make an appeal for Libertarians to vote for McCain, because a vote for "the lesser of two evils" sends the wrong message.  I am here however, to make an appeal for you to vote for Bob Barr, write-in Ron Paul, or to cast your vote for Bugs Bunny! In other words, anybody but Barack Obama.

Let me explain:

Don't worry, this is not a defense of Republicans!

1) "Civil Liberties":

I put that in parenthesis for a reason, because it's my belief rights are inalienable. To take it a step further, it is also my belief that the acceptance of such terminology can only lead people further into the belief that rights are granted by the State, which is very dangerous path indeed.

Reason Magazine recently published an article titled "Beyond the Fairness Doctrine" which starts out with the claim that the so-called Fairness Doctrine "probably will stay dead even if Barack Obama becomes president."  However, the article continues on about Obama's support for many other restrictions on free speech, "suggest[ing] a world where the FCC creates intrusive new rules by fiat, meddles more with the content of stations' programs, and uses the pending extensions of broadband access as an opportunity to put its paws on the Internet."

It's also important to remember that despite the incredibly long list of Constitutional violations by our federal government, it is still in fact the Congress that makes laws, not the president.  Take away the massive list of "chicken-shit" (there, I admit to saying it) 'present' votes by Obama, and you'll find a purest record of supporting extreme Leftist positions out of anyone who has ever been an American presidential candidate (including FDR).  The Democratic party does indeed want to bring back the so-called "Fairness Doctrine," but just by another name.  Please read the links provided below to see just how bad free speech may get squashed under an Obama administration and a willing Democratic Congress.

The tactics used by Barack Obama, plus the desires of a Democrat Congress should give you no comfort or belief in the protection of "civil rights."  To the contrary, it should insight genuine fear.  And maybe Obama does appear to be a little more lenient in regards to marijuana, but that shouldn't provide you an y comfort either.  Barack is a pure Alinskyite.  His appearance is often the polar extreme of his ideology.  Besides, pot is easily available regardless of the tyrannical Drug War.  You can still smoke it anyways.  But ...  to go into the voting booth with "hope" in this regard ... is to literally sell your soul (or ideology) for only ONE issue.

2)  Economic Liberty:

The evidence is overwhelming! Barack Obama has the Statist mentality of a Fabian Socialist. In other words ... creeping socialism.

The Alinsky "community organizer" method's goals are to make small, incremental, baby-steps towards "change." In his book, Alinsky talks of having a "charismatic leader" wrap his radical views in pragmatism to sooth the civilians into discarding capitalism.  "Spreading the wealth around," bankrupting coal mining operations, using Washington to dictate the economy and making claims that the Constitution is flawed because it forbids these things should be more than enough to cast your vote for anybody but Obama.

3)  The Republican Party Must Be Punished:

Yes, they do.  I agree with you!  However, will voting for Obama accomplish this?  And at what cost of liberty?

A vote for Bob Barr or Bugs Bunny DOES send the proper message, however a vote for Obama, sends a message to the Republican party to move further to the Left!  In other words ... more Big Government Socialism. Not less.

Your vote works in the market of politics, just as a vote with your dollar works in the market place.  Best Buy may no longer offer what you're after, so you increase your convenience, or go to "Bill's Electronics" for their better selection.  This is a message that's hard for Best Buy to miss.  As their sales decline, while online shopping increases and "Bill's Electronics" starts opening more and more stores, they'll begin to improve their shopping experience and carry a better variety of products.

Now look at your Libertarian vote.  If all Libertarians voted for Bob Barr for example, it would signal to both parties that they're moving too far towards Bigger Government.  Voting for Barack Obama however, sends the message to the Washington Elite that you're in support of ever-expanding government!

4) Associations Do Matter:

Barack Obama's associations with the likes of Bill Ayers and many others like him, is very much cause for concern.  The now indicted Tony Rezko is a known "political fixer."  Obama went to Kenya to campaign for Raila Odinga, and contributed around $950,000 to his campaign.  For more information on the violent dictator Raila, please watch the video at the end of this post and/or click on the following links.

The anti-state action of bombing the Pentagon may not rattle you, but the reason why Bill Ayers and his Weathermen did it, should literally shake your Libertarian foundation!

Ayers holds the same Alinsky belief of what I call "freedom through tyranny," and his belief system has not changed.  When Obama and Ayers worked together at the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, they pushed a school curriculum not of math and science, but of political activism.

Under their philosophy, teachers become "agitators," with the goal of creating student "activists" aimed at the destruction of capitalism (aka laissez-faire).  This is not my own interpretation based on lossely gathered information.  This is right there, out-in-the-open, transparent FACT!

Ayers has not found political redemption.  Don't fall for the propaganda, wishfully pretending otherwise ... in 2006 Bill Ayers gave a speech before Hugo Chavez and his fellow comrades on education in which he said the following (transcript here):

[M]y comrade and friend Luis Bonilla, a brilliant educator and inspiring fighter for justice ... has taught me a great deal about the Bolivarian Revolution and about the profound educational reforms underway here in Venezuela under the leadership of President Chavez. We share the belief that education is the motor-force of revolution, and ... I look forward to seeing how he and all of you continue to overcome the failings of capitalist education as you seek to create something truly new and deeply humane ...

We have tried peace education for 1,900 years and it has failed. Let us try revolution and see what it will do now.

... another world is possible. As students and teachers begin to see themselves as linked to one another ... capable of collective action ... it urges revolutions small and large ...

[I've] learned that education is never neutral ... At bottom, it involves a struggle over the essential questions: what does it mean to be a human being living in a human society?

Totalitarianism demands obedience and conformity, hierarchy, command and control. Royalty requires allegiance. Capitalism promotes racism and materialism-turning people into consumers, not citizens. Participatory democracy, by contrast, requires free people coming together, voluntarily as equals who are capable of both self-realization and, at the same time, full participation in a shared political and economic life ...

Venezuelans have shown the world that with full participation, full inclusion, and popular empowerment, the failing of capitalist schooling can be resisted and overcome.

A vote for Obama, legitimizes these radical beliefs! These are not the radical beliefs of our Founding Fathers, these are the radical beliefs of a violent dictator! Notice how Ayers (and those like him) believe people become from through tyranny?

You may be angry with the Republicans, but are you willing to risk this?  To "send a message" that will never be heard?

5) Chicago Machine Politics:

I've carried on long enough ... watch the following video and let me know how this fits in with your Libertarian beliefs.

Glad to hear it! Too many Libertarians have been drinking the Obama kool-aid. The truth is … an Obama presidency will bring about their worst nightmares!
