Pandeter wonders, "Is this blog still active?"
Yes. Yes it is.
Politics is crazy. It'll eventually turn any sane man into a lunatic. Notice I didn't say can, but said politics will drive any sane man nuts. Any one of the 545 whackos responsible for all of the United States woes provides concrete proof of this timeless truth. Blogging about deranged politicians and bureaucrats, their constant lies, and the harebrained schemes they cook up in their fantasy world … Well, I just needed a breather.
Blogging will most likely be slow this week, but yes, the Classic Liberal Blog is still alive and kicking!

Anniversary: How Nixon the Keynesian Destroyed the Monetary Regime of Keynes
Behind the honeyed but patently absurd pleas for equality is a ruthless drive for placing themselves (the elites) at the top of a new hierarchy of power. — Murray Rothbard, Egalitarianism and the Elites
DIVERSITY IS UNIFORMITY
EQUALITY IS FAVORITISM
TOLERANCE IS BIGOTRY — Martin Cothran
By now, everybody's supposed to know that when it comes to survival — staying alive — you know, you have to be … you can't be too picky and choosy about the company you're going to keep. You know? Sometimes you have to cooperate with some kind of unsavory people: people you don't like, people you don't trust, people you don't respect. The kind of people you might not even invite into your own home. So, for that reason, tonight I'm announcing my intention to cooperate with the United States government. — George Carlin
If the UK and US governments believe that tactics like this are going to deter or intimidate us in any way from continuing to report aggressively on what these [Snowden] documents reveal, they are beyond deluded. If anything, it will have only the opposite effect: to embolden us even further. Beyond that, every time the US and UK governments show their true character to the world — when they prevent the Bolivian President's plane from flying safely home, when they threaten journalists with prosecution, when they engage in behavior like what they did today — all they do is helpfully underscore why it's so dangerous to allow them to exercise vast, unchecked spying power in the dark. — Glenn Greenwald
