While pundits sing the praises of Statists like Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee, and the Democrats work to "fundamentally transform" the United States of America ... What exactly, has your Congress Critter done for you (individual sovereignty, freedom, and right to the fruits of your labor) lately? Or, how about over this past year?
Nothing, you say? Well, except tell you Ronald Reagan is dead, or that YOU need to be more progressive moderate, yackety, yackety, yack ...
Well then, feel free to get to know the one man in Washington who actually fights for "we the people," his name is Ron Paul.
Never compromising, never falling prey to a "progressive" program, never trying to be someone he's not to pick up a few extra votes ... Rep. Ron Paul went head-strong at the Federal Reserve, demanded to know where YOUR money went, and wrote HR 1207, The Federal Reserve Transparency Act.
Senator Jim DeMint soon jumped on board, and despite many attempts to stop it ...
The House Financial Services Committee today, in a 43-26 vote and a second voice vote, attached the amendment for a broad audit of the Fed to legislation creating a council of regulators to monitor systemic risk. The proposal was offered by Representative Ron Paul, a Republican from Texas, and based on a bill with more than 300 co-sponsors.
This is an extraordinary victory for "we the people," but it's not over yet. The vote for final passage takes place on December 1, 2009.
Today you can chalk up at least one victory for transparency, Ron Paul's Audit the Fed measure has been approved by the House Finacial [sic] Services Committee thus leading the way to drastically pulling back the secrecy; the curtain if you will, of the Federal Reserve.
Many in the liberty movement have been fighting hard on this one and it is amazing to see it reach this point.
God Bless Ron Paul
Hey Ben: get bent. You and your ilk have really [verbed] the [direct object] for decades. It's time for your unholy reign to end.
If this bill gets through without being hacked to pieces, I’m applying for a Senior Auditor position at the GAO.
Still to come, the vote on the whole bill, and much can happen, but this is great news. Bernanke and friends must be crying in their beer.
It looks like Paul will still push for a separate vote on HR.1207 as a standalone bill. I don’t think those in power will let it happen, but I never thought his bill would get as far as it has already, so we’ll see.
Now is the time to turn up the pressure!
Keep contacting Congress and tell your representative that before Congress debates over giving the Fed any new powers, we need to know what they're doing with the ones they already have!
Urge your representative to support a standalone, up or down vote on Audit the Fed, H.R. 1207.
We've put too much work into this effort to see an audit bogged down in yet another Washington bureaucratic nightmare.
Make no mistake, though, the victory today proved we can get the votes to pass the thorough, historic audit we've been fighting for this past year. We have put the Federal Reserve on notice that the freedom movement is serious about reclaiming our country and that it is here to stay.
Thanks for all you do for the cause of freedom. Now, let's finish this fight!
IMHO ... Any Congressperson who doesn't support this bill, doesn't support YOU, the taxpayer. And, that's a fact Jack!
