To acquire a tipping point for 2010 elections, that is, to make being a conservative really popular, we need to accept that many Americans feel conservative, but lack the religious background. I run into folks all the time who are conservative in most respects, but have concluded that the GOP is for evangelistic Christians only. Making a bigger tent means relaxing the requirements for joining the club, and encouraging people who are "mostly conservative" inside. I know it's not right, but Christianity is the big thing that liberals beat us over the head with again and again. We'll win again when we re-brand as the "party of liberty" that includes people of all beliefs, including the non-religious.

    Melissa,

I've started talking about Christianity here and there on the blog, and have a couple posts in mind specifically about being a Christian. I don't think having a religious background or being religious creates an electoral problem. Instead, I think too many Christians have become attached to the State.

I'm not concerned about the Republican Party either. Once people begin to look within and vote their conscience, America will start moving towards liberty again.

All conservatives have to do is embrace their heritage. Remember, it was a conservative who coined the phrase "the establishment!" I will support no more government schemes. It's time they be repealed instead!

Freedom is a universal message. Freedom is a Christian message. Freedom doesn't require anyone to hide who they are, nor does it require someone else to embrace what they don't want. Freedom is the biggest tent of all!

    Q: What is a conservative?

A: Someone who is selfish or stupid. Or both.

    Any other easy questions?
